Thank you for all you did to launch the first week of school.  We realize that things are messy and crazy and appreciate the patience and grace you have shown your students, families, each other, Kevin and I as we put many moving parts together to build into the year.  I hope your second week of the year is off to a good start.  From here on out, Kevin and I will try to send out a message for you first thing on a Monday morning, or even before.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please make note of the following <strong>standing meeting times<\/strong> for Wednesdays.  All meetings take place in person at North Star, unless otherwise noted below.  NSE Team meetings start tomorrow, September 15th:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>9:30 AM Wednesdays-Elementary Team<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>10:30 AM Wednesdays-Secondary Team<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>1:00 PM Wednesdays-All NSE-based staff<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>7:45 AM every other Wednesday staring September 22nd:  OSSM Team (in Amy&#8217;s Webex room)<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our NSE-based staff meeting on September 15th will include the mandatory district <strong>civil rights training<\/strong> and there will be form you need to sign afterwards.  OSSM&#8217;s should receive this training at their high school sites.  On Wednesday we will also be discussing taking attendance and 10 day drops.  OSSM&#8217;s-we will discuss drops at our meeting on September 22nd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Entering North Star Elementary<\/strong>:  When entering our building, please make sure to go through the office rather than using keys to unlock the double doors.  North Star office staff would love to get to know the faces of BLSO staff so they can recognize us coming and going.  Additionally, going into the office then out through the back means you don&#8217;t need to dig out your key.  Very nice when carrying many things&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>North Star-based staff <\/strong>please remember to empty the garbage from your rooms into the large bins in the common area a few times a week.  Recycling, NOT including cardboard, can go in the blue bins and cardboard can go behind the blue bins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another news bit for <strong>North-Star based staff<\/strong>:  <strong>This Thursday, September 16th<\/strong> the school will be having a fire drill at 8:30 AM.  Those of us on site will get to participate!  The school also has a &#8220;safety week&#8221; coming up September 27-October 1st.  We will share more details about that schedule as it approaches.  Our wing neighbor Jeannie, who runs the ESD Preschool, has asked that our staff help her littles out of the building when necessary during drills.  They don&#8217;t arrive until 9 AM so that won&#8217;t be necessary for this first drill.  We will update you with future needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At our staff meeting on Wednesday, our NSE-based staff will get to meet <strong>Rachelle Templin<\/strong>, our ELD teacher, and learn about the Liinguist Link program.  Rachelle is on site at North Star most mornings and we appreciate her help and the way she has jumped right into our team.  On Wednesday you&#8217;ll get to learn more about her role and how she will be supporting BLSO this year.  Welcome Rachelle, and thank you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Supplies and Equipment:<\/strong> If you need something, please let Amy know. Items to request include laptop stands, large monitors, cables or dongles for computers, external keyboards &amp; mice or other items that will help you with your support or teaching.  Hopefully we will be able to place an order by the end of the month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dan Curfew<\/strong> is part of our Canvas support team.  He is also taking on the role of Tier 1 Technology Support for our online families.  When parents or students call the 541.355.8700 family tech support line, calls from those who select &#8220;Bend-La Pine Schools Online&#8221; go right to Dan.  Thank you Dan for assuming this role, we know the line has been busy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tech Notes:<\/strong>  We are getting reports that secondary students taking classes through PEAK are not receiving emails from some teachers and are working to get all of our email domains whitelisted.  If you hear of this from a student (generally their parents get the message and the student does not) ask for the @domain from them so we can verify it is on the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Did you leave your coat?<\/strong>  This has been in our common area since our training week.
