Family Night BBQ
Come join us for our last Family Night of the year. Fun and games on the field, student musical acts performing on the stage, and a BBQ dinner (burgers and hot dogs provided by the school and paid for by Friends of Amity!). We kindly request that families participate by supplying side dishes to share (fruit, beans, salads, etc). We know how busy life can get so if you are unable to get something together to share don’t worry—we want you to come and enjoy the night no matter what! Join us from 5-7pm. Music will start at 5:30. A big thank you to Friends of Amity for supporting this event!
Thanks to all of you we had a fantastic year of fundraising and met our goal of $43,000! This year we funded the following: Art and Music in Residence Programs (Dale and Alisa) including all needed supplies, Outdoor Education experiences and other field trips, classroom supplies, Memory Books, teacher wish lists, Bend Science Station experiences, teacher development, Community Events (BINGO, BBQ, etc), Talent Show expenses, and refurbishing the Buddy Bench. Every dollar raised directly impacts the student experience at Amity and we could not be more thankful to have such a supportive and generous community behind us! Thank you!
Last Fundraiser of the Year–Mountain Air
This last fundraiser of the year will help to elevate us up and over our annual goal! Join us this Wednesday at Mountain Air and be sure to bring a coupon–you can get coupons in the office or you can print the coupon at home (attached to an email we have sent you). We hope to see you at Mountain Air for some good fun!
Amity Creek is on AmazonSmile
Here is an easy, easy, easy way to support fundraising at Amity Creek. For anyone who uses Amazon this automatically gives a percentage of your purchases to Friends of Amity. AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice. Doesn’t sound like much, but it can really add up! Go here on AmazonSmile and then look for the Friends of Amity located in Bend: AmazonSmile Friends of Amity
Time to Return iPads!
It’s time for Grades 3, 4, and 5 to make sure their iPads are ready to be turned in for the summer. If your child’s iPad is still at home please be sure it is returned by tomorrow–our district reps will be here this week to help us inventory all the iPads. We appreciate your help in making sure all iPads have been returned to school!
The Gift of an Owl–It needs a name!
If you missed Grade 3’s Community Time a few weeks back then you might not know that we have been graciously gifted a beautiful stuffed Great Horned Owl from the family of Grade 3 student Eli George. Eli’s mom, Linda, found the owl on the roadside perfectly intact (but no longer alive) over a year ago and embarked on a long and curvy journey to finally having it taxidermies. The owl was presented to us at Community Time through a fun skit put on by Grade 3. So now, the owl desperately needs a name! Grade 5 has been given the honor of naming our new friend and they will announce the name some time during the last week of school.
The end of the year is a joyous time as we celebrate another extraordinary year in the journey of the children. It also a bittersweet time for our Grade 5 students and their families as we send them off to their next journey as middle school students. Several events are taking place to honor our incredible group of Grade 5 students and we hope you can join us in honoring this special group of kiddos:
*June 12: Grade 5 Art Night, 6:30-7:30 (for Grade 5 families and special guests)
*June 13: Graduation, 1pm
*June 14: Special Community Time to honor Grade 5, 8:45am

Don’t Forget to Pick Up Your Child’s Medications
If we have medications here at school for your child please remember to pick up the medications the last day of school, or by June 22 at the very latest.
I wrote this in last year’s end of year note and decided it was worth repeating, something I think I will make a tradition: One the reasons that Amity is so special is the partnerships we form in helping to raise engaged, inspired, caring, and compassionate young people. We take this partnership very seriously and consider it in everything we do. As the year winds down, this is a great time to reflect on the partnership you have formed with your child’s teacher (and others in the school) and find a way to honor the growth that has occurred over the last 10 months. What have been the most inspiring moments of growth? How has your child expanded their belief in themselves and their skills and talents? What changes have you noticed this year? I want to encourage you to take a few minutes to consider all of the great moments and challenges from this school year and to speak with your child about their experiences. And, when you have a moment, seize the opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher and share the highlights!
