Things we may want to consider as a counseling department:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do we want to focus on core areas or all Fs?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Does the data vary by subject? By grade level? Underserved populations?\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Discuss school-wide data in MTSS meetings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What tiered interventions are have available to students? What can we do to support students? <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How do we tackle our lists as counselors as academic support is part of our role?\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Example:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 or more F\u2019s in a core subject gets an at-risk letter home\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Letter could include:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>information about implications of receiving an F<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>resources in our school that are available, which should includes encouraging parents\/caregivers to reach out directly to teacher<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 or more Fs in a core subject gets a &#8220;check in&#8221; from a counselor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 or more Fs gets a phone call home and meeting with counselor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 or more Fs gets a phone call home and student study team meeting (bring all shareholders to meeting)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is just an example and will vary by school, but it is best practice to have some formalized and data driven process to approach our at risk D\/F kids.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Care Solace Care Hero of the Year<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/userimg-assets.customeriomail.com\/images\/client-env-101225\/1675711845809_Care%20Hero%20Award%202023_01GRM3B5EF6R2MMYNWSJ8FJS5Y.pdf\">Nominate yourself or another staff member<\/a>! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Classroom Law Project Scholarship<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have an annual $10,000 scholarship for any student who did ANY of our programs during their high school experience (even using our curated current events or election materials counts).&nbsp; It&#8217;s not as well known out here so I&#8217;m trying to spread the word. Please join us as we host a focus group to gather feedback about a suicide prevention training, Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR). This focus group will be approximately 2 hours over Zoom on\u00a0<strong>Wednesday, February 15th,\u00a06:30 &#8211; 8:30 PM.\u00a0<\/strong>The focus group will include a demonstration of the QPR training virtually and then a time for feedback about the training. The focus group will be led by youth leaders from Churchill High School.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For your time, you will be provided with a $25 gift&nbsp;card to Amazon.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please see the details&nbsp;below and reply to this email if you&#8217;re interested&nbsp;in joining. I truly appreciate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are the lists I\u2019ve created for student opportunities. My top priorities are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>School Health Advocacy Day- Feb 28<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>&#8211; virtual event for students to learn advocacy skills AND speak to legislators!- the focus is on schools with a health center, but Summit seems to be very interested, so I will be asking to include them as well.&nbsp;This is VERY IMPORTANT&nbsp;because OHA does not have enough money to continue the same funding for SBHC\u2019s &nbsp;as last year and Mosaic could lose $48000 in funding without legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>Youth Summit for Health planning Committee<\/strong>&#8211; I am working with Crook, Jefferson, and Warm Springs with a grant from COHC to have a two day summit for youth health and WE NEED student leaders for the planning committee. We meet the third Tuesday of each month 4:30-5:30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Feel free to forward to any student leaders or post up at school sites!
