He will be at our October 11th Educator Network Day to discuss more.  Feel free to reach out to your building administrator if you have more urgent questions in regards to this new legislation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Upcoming training with ODE: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marinda Peters from ODE will be coming into town to do a training with 504 coordinators and case managers across the district.  There will be two parts of the training and participants can come to one or both. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tuesday October 10th <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">8:00-11:30: 504 Overview Training<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">12:20-4:00: Deep Dive Training with opportunities for Q and A<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Culture of Care Fall Update<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1N6ZU_KB_zPpy--7_zzMXaVOEy5MNQ396\/view?usp=drive_link\">Culture of Care Fall Update<\/a> for information on the great programming and supports available to educators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Call to Action: State of Oregon Youth Suicide Trends<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From Caroline Suiter, DCHS:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our program would like to share an important call-to-action regarding state-level trends in youth suicide.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oregon Health Authority recently notified us that&nbsp;<strong>the state is seeing an uptick in younger youth suicides (ages 14 and younger).&nbsp; While the number of overall youth suicide deaths has not changed from the year prior, this change in our younger population is concerning.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are sharing this information with you to place emphasis for those serving students, <strong>grades 4 to 9<\/strong>, to be vigilant in watching for warning signs and to follow your school\u2019s protocols\/Adi\u2019s Act when they see signs for suicide risk.&nbsp;&nbsp;We want to encourage our school districts to continue to support school staff and ensure they are receiving suicide prevention\/intervention trainings as we move into this coming school year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have the benefit of knowing how diligent you all have been when it comes to this state-level call to action and we encourage each district to carry on with your district\u2019s policies and protocols when it comes to suicide prevention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here is the link to the <a href=\"https:\/\/files.constantcontact.com\/6030f667be\/5209ee9f-e1a5-46b9-a838-4d0a7fdeecbe.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/files.constantcontact.com\/6030f667be\/5209ee9f-e1a5-46b9-a838-4d0a7fdeecbe.pdf\">Call to Action<\/a> from the State. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PNACAC College Fair<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">See Flyer for Upcoming Fair!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pnacac.org\/assets\/College_Fairs\/Fall%202023%20College%20Fair%20Poster.Central%20Oregon.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.pnacac.org\/assets\/College_Fairs\/Fall%202023%20College%20Fair%20Poster.Central%20Oregon.pdf\">Check with your STC<\/a> on your schools&#8217; process to get students access to the fair~<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Update from U of Oregon Admissions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">* Important scholarship news! We are honored to announce our partnership with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/financialaid.uoregon.edu\/stamps_scholarship\">Stamps Scholars<\/a>&nbsp;is expanding, allowing us to double the number of students receiving our most prestigious and generous scholarship available. Please encourage your students to apply!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">* In the state of Oregon, the public institutions worked with the Higher Education Coordinating Commission and the Oregon Department of Education to provide&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.uoregon.edu\/freshmen\/requirements\">more flexibility in our math requirements for admission<\/a>. The increased flexibility will extend to any applicant, and not just students from Oregon.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">* We have reduced our application choices to two:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.uoregon.edu\/apply?_ga=2.253144716.424631821.1694188319-446955069.1657062541\">Common Application and University of Oregon Application<\/a>. As part of the application process, we require students to submit the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.uoregon.edu\/self-reported-academic-record\">Self-Reported Academic Record<\/a>(SRAR). The weighted GPA generated by the SRAR is what determines a student\u2019s automatic merit scholarship. It is essential that the SRAR exactly match the high school transcript. If a student has any difficulty, please encourage them to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.uoregon.edu\/admissions-counselors\">contact their admissions counselor<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">J Bar J<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We met with J Bar J and just wanted to send a reminder about the various programs that are under their umbrella to serve students\/families in the community.
