{"id":969,"date":"2024-03-08T01:14:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-08T01:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/blscounselors\/?p=969"},"modified":"2024-03-08T01:14:02","modified_gmt":"2024-03-08T01:14:02","slug":"3-8-24","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/blscounselors\/2024\/03\/08\/3-8-24\/","title":{"rendered":"3.8.24"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">OSCA: New Website<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"960px;\" height=\"540px;\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-us.googleusercontent.com\/iYK6rogzP-eYhgNDhPst_t9tmZ98P2yVpNe71FUm1Za0u3v_XVQOGJUMLJZsLwKxXVHRwHrXydGJqxsZMMf_TtfcKIW3D3XfNv9HU556JEl3g7PWX1pF7uIHt0PHrZaK1CWgDpKMc9y9HIqPglx-iLijYA=s2048\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hi all!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As you might have heard, the Oregon School Counselor Association (OSCA) launched its <a href=\"http:\/\/oscainc.org\">new website<\/a> on February 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re an OSCA member, <strong>take 5 minutes today to log in<\/strong> (visit <a href=\"http:\/\/oscainc.org\">oscainc.org<\/a>, and click \u201cLog In\u201d in the upper right corner) <strong>and update your profile <\/strong>(then click the profile icon in the upper right corner, and select \u201cEdit Your Profile\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I recently joined a special session to get a sneak peek, and WOW! It\u2019s really and truly much improved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few things that impressed me:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Quite simply, <strong>the new site is modern and easy to use<\/strong>. It\u2019s much easier to find what I\u2019m looking for (conference info; application dates for scholarships, grants, School Counselor of the Year or Board elections; log in, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Three cheers for the <strong>new login experience<\/strong>! Again, modern and easy to use, and I quickly got in and updated my profile so I can connect with counselors around the state.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I really love that everything I need &#8211; my profile, membership information, resources and links to professional development opportunities, and the latest on the annual conference, scholarships, grants and nominations &#8211; are <strong>all in one place<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I\u2019m really curious about and excited for the new virtual community, called the All OSCA Members group. This is our place to find out the <strong>latest info from OSCA<\/strong> and seek <strong>real-time peer support<\/strong> from our Oregon school counselor community. It\u2019s a great place to <strong>show off our great work<\/strong> and <strong>see best-in-class examples<\/strong> from other schools and districts. I know when I\u2019m in a pinch, this will help me <strong>access expert peer advice<\/strong> and find <strong>new, innovative ideas<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you aren\u2019t an OSCA member, <a href=\"https:\/\/osca.tradewing.com\/memberships\">check out the membership options<\/a>, and consider joining to access all the great stuff I listed above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you run into trouble, reach out! I\u2019ll do my best to help or point you in the right direction. I\u2019m excited to hear your reactions, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HS and MS Administrator Presentations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jess and Jennifer met with HS Administrators (Tuesday) and MS Administrators (Thursday) to give updates in regards to all of our great work this year and provide them will information to support the implementation of comprehensive school counseling programs at each school site. Please connect as a school team and determine if any of you want to attend.  Please let Stephen and Jess know as soon as possible so we can move forward with registration process.
