Some of our media managers and teacher-librarians are already doing First Chapter Fridays. If you’re not familiar with what that is, it entails picking out a book that you want to share with students and reading them the first chapter in order to “hook” them. It always helps if the first chapter is really interesting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To go along with this idea, Follett has a bunch of First Chapter Videos<\/a> where the author reads the first chapter of their book. This might be fun to intersperse on those First Chapter Fridays. The videos range from roughly 2-30 minutes. Make sure the title is appropriate for the grade level you’re showing it to and as always, be sure to watch the video yourself before showing it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
