10/14/22 Weekly Update

Conferences: If you would like Heidi or me to join you at a conference please let us know and we will get it on the calendar.  I plan on making one of the mini-observations with a conference with everyone either in the fall or spring, so if I could join several of you this time it will help manage the numbers.  If we don’t do one this time around, please plan on me joining you in the spring conferences.

PTO Update:

  • As of today, we are about 80% toward the giving campaign goal with a little over 40K!
  • Book Fair is happening on Monday 11/7 from 7:30-7:00pm.
  • Trunk or Treat has around 38 cars participating so far.
  • Parents are hyped to bring you food for conferences.

SRP Staff Training: This is tentatively rescheduled for 10/27 at 2:30.

Follow-up survey: Please use the following link to provide input on the Highland Norms.  Input

Follow-up from Lindsley: Kudos to Lindsley for taking the time to help us on our foundational skills journey!   Below is a message she asked me to share;

Here are the slides I shared. There are some links to resources BUT Kaelynn is your most valuable resource BY FAR!

I never mentioned Lexia, but those are definitely resources they can use in pulling small groups, too. So many resources, it is just a matter of matching the right ones with the right teaching style and kids’ needs (that is Kaelynn’s superpower)!

Here is the spelling inventory (if folks use the Words Their Ways version, no worries, just want to get people consistent down the pike). Spelling inventories can really tell the story of each classroom’s kids and help the teacher see that foundational skills is for “my kids” too. Even if they are not quite sure how to teach into it yet, that is ok, but just recognizing the need can be empowering!
