“Attitude is a choice. Think positive thoughts daily. Believe in yourself.” – Pat Summitt
Yom HaShoah
FYI – Thursday, May 2nd is considered an international Holocaust Memorial Day, known as Yom HaShoah, in remembrance of the 6 million Jewish lives lost to the Nazi movement in Europe. In Israel, the day is observed with somberness and reflectiveness. There are not celebratory events, and entertainment comes to a standstill for the day. At sundown, on the previous evening and at 11:00 am a siren sounds across every city in the country and everything stops. Traffic on the freeways comes to a stop and everyone stands in silence throughout the full 2 minutes. What many people don’t know was this day was not well-received when it was introduced in the 50’s. Some Israelis felt it was wrong to dedicate a day to remember people who were led to their slaughter like sheep. From that point on the day was dedicated to remembering both the lives lost and the lives saved by the resistance of those who fought back both, passively and actively.

ICCLs 2019-2021
I have been given a deadline for hiring our ICCLs of May 31st, 2019. The job description for this position has not been updated in a long while, so I would advise you not to get caught up on the details of the description. Your job as an ICCL is to work with your colleagues to move our school forward in the School Design Process. We have three main areas (academic excellence, thriving citizen, and future ready) but we choose our more specific goals, work and measures within those areas. A date to keep in mind for this obligation is Wednesday, August 14th which is our district leadership academy. If you are giving this any thought, please talk to me.
