This year we are looking to draw attention to the multitude of pathways available to students after they graduate high school.&nbsp; Here are a few things you could do at your site to make the day a success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Dress as a professional<ul><li>Encourage students and staff to dress up as someone from a career they are interested in.\u00a0 Remember there are a lot of great careers out there!<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Wear college colors<ul><li>Encourage students to wear the colors of a favorite college.\u00a0 Remember, college can mean community college, trade school, 4-year university, etc.\u00a0 Be careful with wording here as college-brand clothing can be expensive and prevent students from feeling like they can participate.\u00a0 Colors are more inclusionary.\u00a0 As much as we know about the Ducks and Beavers, let\u2019s expand our students\u2019 awareness of what\u2019s out there.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Consider incorporating videos or lessons bringing awareness to careers and colleges.\u00a0<ul><li>Here is a great resource from the State of Oregon on <a href=\"https:\/\/xd.adobe.com\/view\/5ecf6783-f7e0-46af-b496-a975172f1f3a-0b9c\/?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=govdelivery\">Career Journeys<\/a>.\u00a0 There are videos, lesson plans and other activities.<\/li><li>Here is a great resource full of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecollegetour.com\/tour-colleges\/\">college videos<\/a>.\u00a0 Students could scroll through and watch short videos on all kinds of colleges.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Consider inviting parents from the community in to talk about their careers.\u00a0\u00a0<ul><li>This could be done in a variety of ways from assemblies, to advisory, to lunch.\u00a0 You could also ask parents to submit a short video of them talking about their jobs and stitch them together for students.\u00a0 Remember our visitor and volunteer requirements if you decide to invite parents in.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you do decide to take it up a notch with college and career activities, please be sure to let Stephen and Alandra know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>UKG Project Update \u2013 <\/strong>UKG Weekly Training: This week\u2019s training <a href=\"https:\/\/bendlapine-my.sharepoint.com\/:v:\/g\/personal\/jason_schneider_bend_k12_or_us\/EbcuK7A_vwZDutEpb7ON91EBqzf-9Rf0WEPnU5M8YJDZ9g?e=jNP49f\">&nbsp;How To Submit a Leave Request in UKG.mp4<\/a> (3 minutes).&nbsp; (November 18)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>From Tami Pike<\/strong> \u2013 Please inform your staff of the importance of letting their school nurse know at least 2 weeks in advance of a scheduled field trip. This is for student safety. This time allows for the school nurse to assess and prepare for the medical needs of the students attending the trip, and train staff who may need to administer medication. If the nurse is given short notice they end up scrambling to gather the needed student medical information as well as train a staff person to safely administer medication. This practice is not safe for students or staff.
