That is something you have charge of.\u201d &#8211; Jim Rohn<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Variety Show<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Huge Kudos to Marieka for another fantastic Variety Show this year. &nbsp;I had an opportunity to observe the rehearsal on Sunday afternoon and the work and coaching she put into every act to make the whole experience come together was inspirational. &nbsp;Thank you so much!<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Field Day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kudos to Misha and everyone else for their contribution to a fun day in the sun and on the field. &nbsp;Although I did not get to observe it, I hear the new water feature was quite the sight!  Thank you very much for creating such an active day for our kids. &nbsp;You know something is going well when kids come in saying \u201cNo!!!, I can\u2019t believe it\u2019s over!!\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ConnectEd rollout: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We plan to come out to each building again in the fall to get everyone set up and ready to go for reading instruction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Rollout date and time Thursday 9\/5 2:30-3:30.<\/li><li>All old content in ConnectEd will be wiped clean &#8230; old classes, any assessments created\/edited will be gone. I also highlighted (in bright magenta) scaled scores that are above last years (17-18) 98th percentile cut-off to indicate students likely to be identified as TAG if they are not already identified. <strong>These are my own unofficial predictions, but I feel they are fairly accurate.  I anticipate a few more students will be highlighted later when we have more official cut scores.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1twmY6LZcazaVd2irT-prOGX6YlISMsAA7NzaDEfhO3M\/edit?usp=sharing\">Spring 2019 SBAC Results<\/a><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2019-2020 Master Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thanks to our leadership team we were able to develop a schedule that should serve us really well and meet some of our new requirements around PE minutes and nutrition services. &nbsp;I will have more details for you in August, but some key changes\/features include the following;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Kinder Tech Time will not be a part of the schedule any longer so we can meet the PE minute requirement for Kindergarten.<\/li><li>Kindergarten and 1st-grade classes will be combined into 2 groups of 33 for music and PE.<\/li><li>Kinder and 1st-grade teams now both have common prep time.<\/li><li>Music and PE sessions will be combined on Wednesdays to provide Music &amp; Movement Classes.<\/li><li>All grade levels have the same lunch\/recess now.  4\/5s together, 2\/3s together, 1 together and K together.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2019-2020 Meeting Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Survey Results;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It\u2019s probably no surprise we did not have much support for before-school meetings.<\/li><li>EBISS meetings will move to afterschool 2:45-3:30 (likely on Tuesdays).<\/li><li>Staff, PLCs, &amp; Design Team meetings will likely be the first half hour of specified SIWs. \u00a0(SIWs are now 1:30-3:30 so we have a 2-hour block of time to use.)  and after school on other days as needed (TBD by the individual teams)<\/li><li>Staff meetings will be roughly every other week.<\/li><li>Design Teams will meet once a month.<\/li><li>PLCs will be once a month.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019ll use this information in August to plan out our meeting schedule and SIWs for the year. &nbsp;This will be added to the google calendar as things solidify.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>100-Year Celebration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Things seem to be on track for this celebration. &nbsp;Just to recap some of the major items in the works;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Friday, September 20th, 12:00-4:00ish <em>Highland\u2019s contribution to Kenwood<\/em>. &nbsp;<ul><li>Tours of the school to see Storyline in action and share our Friezes.<\/li><li>Possibly student-led tours?<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Saturday, September 21st, time frame TBD, <em>Kenwood Reunion<\/em>. &nbsp;<ul><li>a film by Will Hoover<\/li><li>Keynote speaker(s)<\/li><li>Decade displays (need to work on most current decade board)<\/li><li>Music list from all the decades<\/li><li>Time capsule<\/li><li>Food trucks<\/li><li>Building tours\/open house<\/li><li>\u201cflashback \u201c boards by each room<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you would like to contribute ideas or tasks please, please please feel free to jump in.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Slowdown<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This TED talk is especially good to watch to start off the summer, but it will be equally relevant to start our school year. \u00a0There are really good points for us to take away as professionals and family members, but there great points to be made about how we set up the learning environment for children. \u00a0Growth is a positive and inevitable thing for our students, but the speed at which we push for growth, especially in the social-emotional area can be damaging.
