{"id":487,"date":"2019-09-20T17:51:36","date_gmt":"2019-09-20T17:51:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/brian.kissell\/?p=487"},"modified":"2019-09-20T17:51:36","modified_gmt":"2019-09-20T17:51:36","slug":"9-20-19-weekly-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/brian.kissell\/2019\/09\/20\/9-20-19-weekly-update\/","title":{"rendered":"9\/20\/19 Weekly Update"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SafeTOUCH Parent Information Night <\/strong>&#8211; Thursday 10\/17 5:30 in the library<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once I have the parent night completed we can get started soon after with the lessons.&nbsp; Below are some target dates to get these on the calendar &#8211; please talk with your team about which weeks work best for you and get back to me with the specific times for each of your classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>4\/5 Classes &#8211; weeks of 11\/4-11\/8, 11\/18-11\/22 or 12\/2-12\/6<\/li><li>2\/3 Classes &#8211; weeks of 1\/13-1\/17, 1\/21-1\/24, or 2\/3-2\/7<\/li><li>1st grade &#8211; 2\/10-2\/14, 2\/24-2\/28, 3\/2-3\/6<\/li><li>Kinder &#8211; 3\/9-3\/13, 3\/16-3\/20, 4\/13-4\/17<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Minis, Evals, and SLGGs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s time for me to get moving on mini-observations, evaluations, and SLGGs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s a little recap of everything for everyone so we are on the same page;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mini-observations: I will start moving from room to room on my classroom days starting next week.\u00a0 I will do 2 to 3 classroom days a week.  I typically take notes on my computer to help provide context for our conversation later.\u00a0 Once I observe your class, I need to have a follow-up conversation with you regarding that lesson within 3 days in order for it to count as a mini.\u00a0 I appreciate your help in making this happen at a time that works for both of us.  Not every classroom visit will result in a mini and that&#8217;s OK.  I plan to come to watch all content areas this year, so minis do not have to be limited to one content area.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Evaluations:\u00a0 If you did not have an evaluation last year, then this is your \u201con\u201d year for evaluation (see list below).  If you think there is a mistake, let me know. That 2-week window will run from Monday 10\/28 to Monday 11\/11.&nbsp; Please try to have conversations with your teams about your preferred dates and also please provide an alternate date to allow for some flexibility.&nbsp; Again, this is a proactive attempt to work out conflicts before they happen and improve our communication with families for everyone.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Meeting Schedule <\/strong>&#8211; now added to the Highland Staff calendar.\u00a0 If changes are made, please help ensure the change is reflected in both the Master Schedule Document and Calendar to avoid confusion.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PTO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I realize I didn\u2019t provide your balances yet, but I will get these to you next week.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dreambox &#8211; <\/strong>Marina and I will be providing training on Tuesday 10\/15 for the 2\/3 and \u2158, however either one of us will be willing to meet with you one on one get you up and running before then.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>100-Year Celebration- Saturday, September 21st<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Linked below is the sign-up list and I added a sort of checklist of things to be done before start tomorrow.&nbsp; I have a handful of people coming at 6 this evening to help with set up.
