How\u2019s it going?<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

YouthTruth Survey<\/strong> – The YouthTruth survey is open until 1\/28.  Here\u2019s the link to the staff survey<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highland Culture of Care: <\/strong>Our character trait for the month of January is kindness. Thank you to the kindergarten team for signing up to make a video for the January assembly on the 28th Here is the link <\/a>to our year long assembly plan with a few kindness resources. I also have some great books on kindness in my office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a team, we are continuing to read Classroom 180. Our next SIW will be on February 2nd and we plan on discussing domains 2 and 3. We also want to hear from YOU! The plan is to hold another \u201cFishbowl\u201d to discuss regulation and using the language of trauma. You can also bring your wonderings and problems that need solving!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recess: <\/strong>In response to some concerns expressed on Wednesday, our Culture of Care team will brainstorm some ideas on how to help push out some recess reminders. Until then, if you would like Brian or myself to come in and do a group or class problem solving activity with any of your students experiencing some issues at recess, we are happy to do so! Just reach out!!!  More on this later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SEL Lessons: <\/strong>Reminder, I am ALWAYS happy to come in and teach what I call an anchor SEL lesson! I also love helping teachers brainstorm ways to integrate SEL into their day. I have a lot of resources to share with you, just let me know what you need. This is the time of year when we start to see behaviors showing up more frequently and at higher rates. Class meetings, restorative circles and targeted lessons are just a few ways we can help mitigate them.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PTO Update:<\/strong> As of this date, the giving campaign is just under $50,000, which is about $5,000 shy of the original goal.  My feeling is this is really amazing considering we were unable to hold any of the in-person community-building events that help with giving campaign momentum.  I am feeling really appreciative and grateful, so I hope you all join me in these sentiments.  The five-thousand dollar shortfall will likely be negated with the line items we cannot do due to the pandemic (Field trips, Bend Sci Center, etc.), so I think we can expect to fund just about everything else at a full or nearly full level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plumbing Construction: <\/strong> It looks like we will continue to have some minor construction working on fixing the plumbing issue that was causing the leaking into the basement rooms.  The broken pipe was located and removed (behind the bike racks) however there is a blockage further down the line (somewhere in the middle of the playground) that will need to be replaced to allow the water to flow to the city storm drain system.  Right now there is a pump removing the runoff as it builds up to keep it out of the basement.  I hope to hear soon when we can expect to see the other blockage fixed, however this will cause us to lose a part of the playground for some time while the work is being completed.  Hopefully this can be completed over a weekend, but I think we all know that\u2019s wishful thinking.  PS – the foundation is fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
