STEM Certification Site Visit-<\/strong><\/span> Next Wednesday we will have guests here from the Portland Metro STEM Partnership as a final step to Buckingham’s process to become a STEM certified school. Thank you to the teachers who will host the visitors in their classrooms. Please know that they may do a quick walk through of other classrooms. Thank you for keeping your STEM night exhibits displayed through the visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spirit Week-<\/span><\/strong> As Heather shared at our SIW, we will be having a low-key spirit week June 8-16. Check out the link<\/a> to see each day’s events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fire Drill-<\/span><\/strong> We are switching the fire drill from Thursday, June 1, to Monday, June 5 at 12:55 so that we don’t interrupt testing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Move Up Day<\/strong><\/span>– ICCL’s decided move up day would be Thursday, June 8, from 1:35-2:05. ICCL’s are leading the coordination of this and will connect with you to talk logistics if they haven’t already. Fifth graders will circle back to kindergarten…well, they’ll have an extra recess with kindergarten teachers supervising. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yearbooks-<\/span><\/strong> Yearbooks are scheduled to arrive on Tuesday, June 13. ICCL’s decided to distribute to all students on Wednesday, June 14. Please provide a paper booklet (or at least a sheet) for students who didn’t order a yearbook so they have something they can have friends sign. Please tell students that they shouldn’t be signing shirts, clothing or bodies. Thank you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gum-<\/span><\/strong> Many students are chewing gum during testing. Please remind them that they need to be sure to put it in a garbage can. Kevin has been finding a lot on floors and it’s really hard to clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Checkout- <\/span><\/strong>We will have a checkout list to you in the next week or so. If you have this completed by Friday, June 16, the last day of school, you are NOT required to return the next week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breakfast-<\/strong><\/span> Please remind your students that they need to eat breakfast BEFORE they go to recess\/classroom in the morning. Thank you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Out-<\/span><\/strong> I will be out Next Friday, June 2, and Monday, June 12 as I will be out of town both of those weekends. I won’t be able to help with any testing on the last day, Friday, June 2. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last Week of School-<\/strong><\/span> The last week of school is fast approaching. Here is a rundown of what we know for the last week’s events. On Friday, June 9 (technically, not the last week of school), all students will win ice cream. We will deliver the last part of the day. You can eat in your room or take your kids outside. Your choice. On Monday, June 12, we will have our talent show. Start time is 12:45. Wednesday, June 14, will be our field day. Ryan will be creating a schedule that will be shared as soon as it is complete as well as other field day needs\/directions. That Wednesday is a regular 2:15 dismissal. Friday, June 16, we will hold our 5th grade promotion that will begin at 9:15. Finally, we will have our last staff meeting right after buses leave at 1:00. Most likely, there will be food…can’t promise anything else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
