Thanks to everyone for all you are doing to hold down the fort and finish strong. This year seems like three years in one. We’ve had about three different starts and last August seems like forever ago. But, we are on the homestretch! Let’s do everything we can to make it a great finish. Thanks for all you do!

The timing couldn’t be better for a beautiful, Central Oregon, three day sunshiny weekend. Enjoy.

Bittersweet Announcement- I just learned within the last five minutes that Amber Stenkamp has been offered and accepted a position in the Redmond School District. I know that this will make life much easier for Amber and we are excited for her as she embarks on this new journey. Conversely, it’s a big loss for Buckingham, and we will miss all that Amber has contributed to Buckingham students, parents and staff the past eight years. Congratulations, Amber! We are happy and excited for you!

Evaluation Meetings- Please sign up for a time to meet with me to discuss your evaluation. Don’t see a time that works for you? Plug another into the document AND email me to let me know you’ve put a different time in. These shouldn’t last more than 30 minutes. Don’t forget to complete your self- evaluation. Remember that we are only required to complete the following domains: 1 (all), 3.13, 4.16, 5 (all), 6.24.

PD opportunity- I’ve been asked to share this free summer learning flyer with any/all on your staff. The topic is Trauma-Informed Engagement Practices through the process of continuous improvement.

Summer IPADS- Families will have the option of keeping ipads over the summer this year. This will be going out in today’s newsletter, “Students will be allowed to keep their loaner iPads with them throughout the summer months. This will provide students with a device to continue learning opportunities over the summer. Please tell your child’s teacher if you do NOT want your child to keep her/his iPad over the summer. Ipads should be used for educational purposes at home. Dreambox and Lexia will be available.
If you will not be attending a Bend-La Pine Schools program or school next year, please return your iPad, charging brick and cord to your current school. If you will be attending a different Bend-La Pine Schools program or school next year, keep the iPad you have and take it with you to your new site in September.”

We will have more directions for end of year ipad protocol at our staff meeting Thursday.

STEM- Laci recently sent out an invite for the next two Wednesdays, June 2 and June 9, for STEM planning. The focus will be on the ‘what’ of STEM at Buckingham, specifically, what are the knowledge, skills and attitudes about STEM that we want students to leave Buckingham with in fifth grade. This ‘what’ work will help us to have a goal and aim for future ‘how’ planning that we do around STEM. There is $$$$ for those of you who want to join us one or both Wednesdays. I’m excited about where we are headed with STEM.

Kona Ice- Kona Ice will be here on TUESDAY of the last week, not Wednesday. This should actually make things a bit easier schedule wise with Field Day on Wednesday. We will have a schedule to you by the end of next week.

Cabinets- Thanks to Becky and our carpentry department we have some new fancy storage around the building. By the staff bathroom on the north side of the library we have cabinets for our ‘break’ supplies and in the hallway across from the staff room we have cabinets for the lost and found. Makes things look much nicer.
