{"id":364,"date":"2024-08-27T21:48:54","date_gmt":"2024-08-27T21:48:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/caitlin.vallerga\/?p=364"},"modified":"2024-08-27T21:54:24","modified_gmt":"2024-08-27T21:54:24","slug":"monarch-a-storyline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/caitlin.vallerga\/2024\/08\/27\/monarch-a-storyline\/","title":{"rendered":"Monarch: A Storyline"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To kick off this Storyline, a scientist from the Deschutes Land Trust sent us a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=r1LwKmkMwec\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=r1LwKmkMwec\">video<\/a> describing the plight of monarch butterflies and inviting students to help as community scientists. Through their role as community scientists, students became advocates and experts about monarchs. At several points along the migration route, students imagined the journey in role as a butterfly during process drama activities. At the end of the Storyline, students created a butterfly waystation at our school.
