Shelby Paulson, a teacher librarian at Pilot Butte Middle School, has been hosting storytime for Life Skills students on Thursdays during 2nd period. They usually read 2-3 books and complete a craft project, all based on a theme. For example, during the month of January, they explored social-emotional topics. April Witteveen, from the public library, comes once per month to read to the students and bring a craft. Her craft project in January was thank you cards. Matt McCown, Pilot Butte’s SLP (Speech-Language Pathologist), also reads and works on social communication goals with the students in a group setting. Today they made friendship rocks. What a great event to host in the library!
