She has curated a list of resources and text that may be helpful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-black-background-color has-text-color has-background wp-block-paragraph\">When you Google Black History Month, you\u2019ll most likely see the name, Carter G. Woodson, known as the \u201cFather of Black History\u201d. In 1915, he created the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History. Then in 1926, he started the first \u201cNegro History Week\u201d on February 7th. It wasn\u2019t until 1976 when Black History Month was officially recognized. It was then that President Gerald Ford urged Americans to \u201chonor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/STJsQp-5QIYdz8AyGjCQlUuc3-Ov4Jw8Tq4MruiF-ZKidzcBN447DjxuJwUFx4l1SME2Ss_4FW8tiPoqYFM3r5sKPhRyzgf17dDmQb_Fif76A7B8lUzDfokF-DPX_qZMRXU3jjOS\" width=\"510\" height=\"767\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The theme for Black History Month 2022 is Black Health and Wellness. Some ways you can celebrate Black History Month:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-normal-font-size wp-block-list\"><li>Support Black-Owned Businesses<\/li><li>Learn About Noteworthy Black Figures and Their Contributions<\/li><li>Donate to Charities That Support Anti-Racism Equity and Equality<\/li><li>Purchase, Read, and Share Books by Black Authors<\/li><li>Support and Learn About Black Women<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-heading\" id=\"history\"><strong>History<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are a plethora of Black History resources out there, but you may not have time to curate them for yourself or your students.
