From the menu on the left click on &#8220;Resource Lists&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>4. On the top right, click the &#8220;Public Lists&#8221; tab<\/p>\n<p>5. Scroll down until you find &#8220;Math and Mathematicians&#8221; and click<\/p>\n<p>This is a list of all the physical and electronic books the SHS library owns<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #008000\">Databases<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldbookonline.com\/advanced\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">World Book Advanced Online: <\/a>\u00a0At school, you can use World Book without a username and password. \u00a0Away from school, you will need a username and password, which you can get from Mrs. Overcash in the library.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>Discovery Streaming:<\/strong> <\/span>\u00a0If you use the One Search feature of the library catalog, you will have access to documentary videos on your topic. \u00a0Follow these stepps:<\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0Go to the <a href=\"http:\/\/library.bend.k12.or.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">library catalog<\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0Select Summit High School from the bottom right box (High Schools)<\/p>\n<p>3. Enter your search term in the search bar (the name of the person you are researching, for example)<\/p>\n<p>4. \u00a0When you have the list of results, look at the upper right side of the results page and click on the &#8220;One Search&#8221; tab<\/p>\n<p>5. \u00a0Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the &#8220;Get Results&#8221; button. \u00a0You might have to do this a couple times, but eventually, you will see\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/eila.overcash\/files\/2015\/01\/Screen-Shot-2015-01-21-at-12.57.48-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1201\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/eila.overcash\/files\/2015\/01\/Screen-Shot-2015-01-21-at-12.57.48-PM.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2015-01-21 at 12.57.48 PM\" width=\"54\" height=\"42\" \/><\/a>on the left of the screen.<\/p>\n<p>6. \u00a0Click on the green &#8220;Show&#8221; check mark to see the videos on your topic.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #008000\">Reliable Web Resources<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/famous-mathematicians.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Famous Mathematicians: <\/a>\u00a0This site has brief biographical information on many mathematicians. \u00a0The front page shows a handful, but if you click on one of them, you will see a list of many more on the left side of the screen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www-groups.dcs.st-and.ac.uk\/~history\/Indexes\/Women.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Female Mathematicians:<\/a> \u00a0This is a site created by School of Mathematics and Statistics, University of St. Andrews, Scotland. \u00a0It includes an extensive list of women, and each biography includes an author and a list of resources.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.math.upenn.edu\/History\/bh\/text99.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pioneer African American Mathematicians:<\/a> \u00a0Created by the University of Pennsylvania, this site includes brief biographies of 3 mathematicians who graduated from U Penn, including their contributions to the university and to the world of mathematics.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.maths.tcd.ie\/pub\/HistMath\/People\/RBallHist.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mathematicians of the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries:<\/a> \u00a0This site was created and is maintained by School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, and it includes exactly what the title suggests.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www-history.mcs.st-and.ac.uk\/history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The MacTutor History of Mathematics Archive: <\/a>\u00a0This site includes a link on the left that takes you to a list of mathematician biographies. \u00a0The site is created and maintained by School of Mathematics and Statistics, University of St. Andrews, Scotland<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SHS Library Resources: 1. \u00a0Go to the library catalog 2. \u00a0Select Summit High School from the bottom right box (High Schools) 3.
