Technology in the Classroom<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Students in grades K-8 will now find a new icon on their iPad home screen directing them to the research databases hosted on our media center websites. Utilizing carefully curated research databases, instead of generic search engines, is crucial for fostering responsible information-seeking in the vast sea of online resources. Check out\u00a0Quick Access to Safe and Reliable Research<\/a>\u00a0for more information. If you’d like support with research projects in your classrooms, please reach out to your instructional coach or our instructional technology team, Robbie Faith and Tracy Howk.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social Emotional & Mental Well-Being<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Teachers below is an activity highlight you can do during your community connection or sometime throughout your day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kindergarten: <\/strong>Taking Care<\/strong><\/a> –<\/strong> Students discuss what it means to take care of themselves and take care of one another.\u00a0
1st Grade: <\/strong>What\u2019s the Best<\/strong><\/a> – <\/strong>Students prioritize items and discuss their selections.
2nd grade: <\/strong>Wants vs. Needs<\/strong><\/a> – S<\/strong>tudents evaluate wants vs. needs and learn to prioritize.\u00a0
3rd grade:<\/strong> Restorative Circle: The Water Balloon Incident<\/strong><\/a> – <\/strong>Students work through a hypothetical restorative circle practice
4th grade: <\/strong>Silent Movie Trailor<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>– Students act out their favorite movies, books, or TV shows.
5th grade: <\/strong>Around the World Challenge<\/strong><\/a> –<\/strong> Students participate in a physical group challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Celebrating Earth Week<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Register Your Child or Class for a Free Tree! This spring, Deschutes Public Library is thrilled to announce their participation in Neighborhood Forest’s 16th Annual Free Tree Program as part of our Earth Week celebrations April 22-27, 2025. Please fill out the online registration form below by March 15 and receive a free tree (6-12 inches in size) during Earth Week (April 22-27). Or send the information to your classroom families. The tree species will be announced in early April. Neighborhood Forest aims to provide native trees in all regions they serve.
