One decides to jump off. How many are left?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your answer is \u201cfour\u201d, thank your math teacher for your excellent math skills. Unfortunately, this is not a test of your math abilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s a life problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The correct answer is \u201cfive\u201d. Yes, all five are still sitting there on the lily pad. The one frog only decided to jump but hasn\u2019t. Life is not a spectator sport; it\u2019s indeed a contact sport and there are no practice sessions, and you\u2019ve been in the game from day one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As cliche as it seems \u2018The journey starts with a single step\u2019&#8230; The team relied on two documents to guide the vision and direction of how Bend La Pine will use the funds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/ode\/educator-resources\/standards\/ELA\/Documents\/Literacy%20Framework_2023.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Oregon Literacy Framework<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1sr6XRhhHOXIvJf-_JQqdhFD92A11CfG8\/view?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Essential Practices in Early Literacy<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team identified areas of strength in our early literacy programs and areas for potential growth.&nbsp; The allowable uses for grant funding are in the following areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Professional Development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Instructional Coaching<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Evidence-Based Curricular Materials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High Dosage Tutoring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Extended Learning Programs<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/presentation\/d\/1JhX6bXvlCrQUFWxGZnSd9_DcIt8zFlM2\/edit?usp=sharing&amp;ouid=101795580140760974491&amp;rtpof=true&amp;sd=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Here&nbsp;<\/a>is the plan that will be presented to the school board on January 9th.&nbsp; If you have questions, please reach out to Julie Walker<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The timeline for submitting this grant was extremely short.&nbsp; My hope is that we can cover this topic in more depth at an upcoming horizontal meeting.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Language Arts Adoption Update<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Language Arts Review Team (made up of 30 teachers, specialists, coaches and administrators) will update the school board on January 9<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;with a report on the adoption process and the recommendation of EL Education as our K-5 Language Arts Curriculum.&nbsp; After that,&nbsp; the board will take feedback for a month and then will take action at the February 13<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;board meeting.&nbsp; Currently,&nbsp; we have 30 teachers field testing materials and giving feedback on recommended professional learning.&nbsp;
