{"id":6,"date":"2018-08-23T21:45:04","date_gmt":"2018-08-23T21:45:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/gary.defrang\/?p=6"},"modified":"2018-08-31T22:08:00","modified_gmt":"2018-08-31T22:08:00","slug":"august-31st","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/gary.defrang\/2018\/08\/23\/august-31st\/","title":{"rendered":"August 31st"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Colleagues,<\/p>\n<p>Welcome to our first publication of the Week at a Glance Blog!\u00a0 This school-wide communication system is authored with the purpose of keeping you informed about what will be happening the next week at Lava Ridge, notes on other items connected to teaching and learning, and nuts-and bolts-like information to keep you well informed and cut down on sit-n-git information at Staff Meetings.\u00a0\u00a0 This blog will also be a place you can return to retrieve documents and other linked information and will limit the number of emails that come to your inbox during the week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Details below for the week of September 4th &#8211; 7th<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>**No Raptor Stickers from 8:30-9:00**<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Focus Areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Relationship Building<\/li>\n<li>Teaching of School Wide Matrix<\/li>\n<li>Teaching Student Traffic Flows<\/li>\n<li>Recess Rodeo Videos (Watch and Discuss)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tuesday, September 4th:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Welcome back Life Skills EA Team!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Wednesday, September 5<sup>th<\/sup>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First Day of School!\u00a0 3:30 Dismissal<\/li>\n<li>Tuesday Specials Schedule (PE and Music Meeting Together in the Gym)<\/li>\n<li>Kindergarten Camp Group #1<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thursday, September 6<sup>th<\/sup><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kindergarten Camp Group #2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Friday, September 7<sup>th<\/sup><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All Kindergarteners attend<\/li>\n<li>Kindergarten class lists posted @ 2:30 followed by meet and greet with teachers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Grade Level Teams<\/strong>-If your team or members of your team believe there might be gains made to student learning by sharing students at your grade level for certain content areas (ie. a teacher teaches the same math lesson to their students and another class too, while their students learn writing daily with another teacher on their team) please let me know so we are able to meet and discuss.\u00a0 Thank you!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Standards of Practice-<\/strong> The most up to date district Standards of Practice for <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1mkgKHECu53Ywdn718mVbT9FULCSKeSMU\/view?usp=sharing\">reading<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1s4uO-WdSRkoJ4y7FnQcNrRJ1TOJqwvvg\/view?usp=sharing\">writing<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1s3bEmYNd_5dNlxp7AD4xln7ZXLR2wWhk\/view?usp=sharing\">math<\/a> are now available.\u00a0 We are planning to discuss curriculum mapping and provide teams time for this on at our School Improvement Wednesday on September 12th.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a note from Kevin Gehrig, who will be serving as the principal at the new elementary school:<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to give you all a heads up about an internal posting that is now available on our district\u2019s website or at the following link \u2013\u00a0<a class=\"x_OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/NewSchoolICCL\">http:\/\/bit.ly\/NewSchoolICCL<\/a>. I will be\u00a0hiring three curriculum leaders to assist in the planning and preparation of the the new elementary school that will open in the fall of 2019-2020.\u00a0The posting closes on September 21 and we will be conducting interviews soon after that date.\u00a0The teachers hired for these postings will receive\u00a0an ICCL stipend for their work during the the 2018-2019 school year and then teach\u00a0at the new elementary school beginning in 2019-2020.
