Enrollment-<\/strong><\/span> First off, you all need to know that you work with an amazing group of elementary principal colleagues. In my first four school start up years in this position, we moved zero teachers to address class sizes. This week, we have moved 5. This is never fun. It is especially difficult for teachers and principals who have to redo class lists, schedules, etc. at the last minute. I’d like to give a special thanks to Dan Wolnick, Dana Pedersen, Kevin Milner and JP Richards. All of these schools lost staff this week. All of these principals were amazing to work with. Professional, positive, thoughtful, caring, and quick to act. They made extremely difficult circumstances look easy. That’s not done without a selfless attitude and a strong skill set. Give them all a big thank you next time you see them as they put the whole before themselves.<\/p>\n

In addition, the teachers moving have also been great. In most of the cases we were able to give some choice and move people to places they wanted to be, but it is still difficult.<\/p>\n

PE-<\/strong> <\/span>Please work with your PE teacher to share the PE Powerpoint. I have attached it to the email. The lessons spreadsheet will be coming your way soon.<\/p>\n

Admin Meeting Calendar-<\/strong><\/span> Please see the leadership and horizontal meeting calendar here<\/a>. Dates are subject to change or cancellation.<\/p>\n

2 hour office support-<\/strong><\/span> I will be sharing with each of you next week how much it will cost for you to get this 2 hour support. As I previously shared, we will be unable to provide all of this due to more days and increased salary\/benefits.<\/p>\n

Title Allocations-<\/span><\/strong> We will share Title allocations with you next week. The numbers are looking pretty good right now.<\/p>\n

From Kerry Morton-<\/span><\/strong> I would like to create a PLC for math interventionists at the elementary level. I know some schools have a dedicated math interventionist and some have an interventionist that manages both reading and mathematics. Others ask classroom teachers, educational assistants, or special education teachers to manage these groups. \u00a0If each grade level manages their own math intervention, please just indicate that in the column. Sustainability Opportunity for Teachers-<\/strong><\/span> Please read the below information from BLP Sustainability Coordinator, Jackie Wilson.\u00a0 Please contact Jackie with any questions.<\/p>\n

  1. \u00a0Climate Resolution<\/a> was passed at the June board meeting. This new resolution will assist the district in future decisions and help shape our sustainability plan.\u00a0<\/li>\n
  2. WE Reduce is a program of BLSD. Through this program, schools have a designated staff leader who is the Sustainability Advisor at the school. This lead works with the school community and a green team on tasks to decrease waste and increase energy efficiency in the schools. This is a stipend position<\/a> ($1000) and an important role for each school as the work helps to save money and educate students about the ways they can be leaders and guide stewardship actions in their schools. Please make sure that admin teams review the WE reduce program goals and to pass on to me the name of the staff member who will be the Sustainability Advisor for their school in the upcoming 19-20 school year.<\/li>\n
  3. If Administrators have any questions about their school utilities or energy impact compared to other schools, I am happy to provide reports and will update them regularly.\u00a0 \u00a0sustainability@bend.k12.or.us<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    SIW Teacher Days-<\/strong><\/span> Thank you for your input on Teacher SIW days. The following dates were the most popular choices each month. Please set these aside for teachers. Thank you.<\/p>\n

    September 18, October 23 (conference day), November 20, December 18, January 8, February 19, March 18, April 8 (conference day), May 20.<\/p>\n

    Safety Signs-<\/strong><\/span> Our safety team has created signs to provide information for visitors\/volunteers. It is my understanding that these are being sent directly to your schools. There has been a delay in processing the Spanish-language versions, so I am asking all of you to WAIT to post signs until you have both English and Spanish-language posters. Thanks!<\/p>\n
