{"id":1164,"date":"2019-10-04T18:40:34","date_gmt":"2019-10-04T18:40:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/gary.timms\/?p=1164"},"modified":"2019-10-04T18:40:34","modified_gmt":"2019-10-04T18:40:34","slug":"october-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/gary.timms\/2019\/10\/04\/october-4\/","title":{"rendered":"October 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Leadership Reminder-<\/strong><\/span> On Monday, October 7<sup>th<\/sup>, we will be walking our leadership team through an exercise for our district\u2019s Excellence and Equity Review that we are asking each school to complete on a School Improvement Wednesday. The activity will take approximately 90 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>You can lead your staff in this activity on any Wednesday between October 9<sup>th<\/sup> and November 13<sup>th<\/sup>. We are emphasizing this because you will have some data you\u2019ll be asked to share with your staff, and it\u2019s important that you and your ICCL\u2019s are familiar with the data and able to answer questions.<\/p>\n<p>Please be sure to bring you laptop. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>SLGG-<\/strong><\/span> Please complete your SLGG&#8217;s and have them ready when I visit in October. I am fine if\u00a0 you would rather do them electronically and email them to me before our October visit. Forms can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1HEiD_Qfq6dsoetF9H7asO9-L6WvLml57\/view?usp=sharing\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1dGf5rCnHaUtYN2bfP1QbZhSS-Tx0RVhP\/view?usp=sharing\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Conferences-<\/strong><\/span> Your sites once again have options for conferences. Option 1: 4-8 on Wednesday, Noon-8 on Thursday, 8-Noon on Friday. Option 2: 4-8 on Wednesday, 8-8 on Thursday, Off on Friday. Teachers have 8-4 on Wednesday as a prep for both options. As always, the decision at your site needs to be consensus.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Interpreters-<\/strong><\/span> I haven&#8217;t received much input regarding best ways to schedule interpreters, so I&#8217;ll take a stab at it and hope for the best. Please <strong>work closely with your ELL teacher<\/strong>. Complete <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1pU1GMZfVSO40zUVq2mA2k9yhYwN8yOQYPAWNdR-Mhvo\/edit?usp=sharing\">this spreadsheet<\/a> indicating how many conferences will need interpreters. In conjunction with your ELL teachers, <strong>work with families<\/strong> to find best blocks of time and choose <strong>two<\/strong> from the following choices:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Wednesday, 4-8<\/li>\n<li>Thursday, 8-noon<\/li>\n<li>Thursday, noon- 4<\/li>\n<li>Thursday, 4-8<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If at all possible, please attempt to choose at least one that isn&#8217;t an evening. If everyone signs up for just evenings, we won&#8217;t have enough interpreters (and still might not). <strong>Please provide the information by the end of the day, next Thursday.<\/strong> If you do not need interpreters, please write &#8220;none&#8221; in each box so that we know you&#8217;ve been considered. Please factor in availability of your own staff who are able to conduct conferences in Spanish or provide interpreting before completing your requests. The more we can conduct in house, the more likely we will be able to meet all needs at all schools. We don&#8217;t yet know how many interpreters are available, but want to be able to start scheduling as soon as the ESD tells us who we have. Thank you for your help!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>From HR-<\/strong><\/span> On Monday, October 7, an Excel Spreadsheet of your current certified assignment, FTE and budget accounts for the 2019\/20 school year will be emailed to you.\u00a0 This list shows all changes up through September 30<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 We have delayed this process until now to try and capture all the late hires and additional FTE to each certified employee, however there still may be some changes that have not processed through Payroll yet until the October PA run. If you see a change that needs to be made, please submit a PA to Carrie Hulbert as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Also attached will be a current licensure list of each licensed employee in your building with the endorsements they are approved to teach.\u00a0 Each year we report to the Oregon Department of Education by SCED code to ensure correct certification for each teacher.\u00a0 If you have a certified employee teaching outside of their endorsement, please contact Candy Gelatt as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for your dedication in working with us on this project every year.\u00a0 Your time and hard work is very much appreciated.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>PE-<\/strong><\/span> Please be sure to share the PE keynote with your staff if you haven&#8217;t already. Please do so as soon as possible.
