Kona Ice-<\/strong><\/span> Representatives from Kona Ice may be reaching out to you for fundraising opportunities. You are free to move forward as long as you follow all of our fundraising policies and procedures.<\/p>\n

MAT Candidates-<\/strong> <\/span>Please let me know by Monday, December 9,\u00a0 if you are interested in having an MAT candidate in one of your intermediate classrooms. We have some Eastern Oregon University students in Central Oregon who are interested in our schools.<\/p>\n

Discipline Referral Form Update-<\/strong><\/span> There has been a new update to the Office Discipline Referral Form<\/strong>. You can find this newest update in the Staff Portal. Here is a link to the new update<\/a>, which I’ve highlighted and can be found on page two. In essence, Jon would like to be able to track minor incidents of a sexual nature, but needs an email or phone call from you ONLY<\/em> when they are Major<\/em> incidents.<\/p>\n

Parent Workshop-<\/strong><\/span> BLS and Deschutes County are teaming up to provide four free parent workshops (the same workshop, offered four times) starting in January. The Connect Workshop is a 2-hour training<\/strong> aimed at providing parents with skills to navigate conversations with their child(ren) around the topics of marijuana, alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. Please share this flyer<\/a> freely both inside your building and within your broader school community. You will notice that childcare is provided for two of these workshops, and one will be facilitated in Spanish. Additionally, I’ll share a Spanish version of this flyer as soon as I receive it (being translated now).<\/p>\n

Principal Conference-<\/strong><\/span> Please see flyer for annual principals’ conference<\/a>. Not required, but certainly a great PD opportunity.<\/p>\n

Book Study-<\/strong><\/span> The books have arrived for those of you who signed up to be a part of our Learning by Doing <\/em>book study. They will be available for pickup at our horizontal meeting on Monday. Crazy time of year, so we will say let’s have the introduction and first chapter read by the second Friday we are back after winter break, January 17. I will have a link in this blog before January 17 with directions and next steps.<\/p>\n

Chronic Absenteeism-<\/strong><\/span> Many of you were able to attend Kimberly Strong’s presentation on chronic absenteeism on November 18. Several of you asked to get the keynote<\/a> Kimberly shared, so I thought I would just share with all.<\/p>\n
