School Board Appreciation Month-<\/span><\/strong> January is school board appreciation month. It would be great for them to receive any sort of recognition for their efforts. Whether it be a note from a principal, teacher or class, or some art or any other form, it would be appreciated. We have a very hard working, dedicated school board who volunteers countless hours in an effort to do the same thing we do every day- help kids. You can send anything to the Supt.’s office.<\/p>\n Snow Days-<\/span><\/strong> \u201cHow many more snow days before we have to start adding days at the end of the year in June,\u201d\u00a0 is probably a question you have either heard or asked. Earlier this week Jay sent out an email responding to this question that I hope you were able to read. \u00a0To paraphrase what Jay communicated, there is not a set number of snow days that automatically results in adding days. \u00a0But, if there were, we are getting close. \u00a0These are discussions that are starting and each snow day will get us closer to the reality of adding back an instructional day.<\/p>\n SBAC Opt Out-<\/span><\/strong> We are required to inform families of their right to opt out of SBAC testing and provide them with the opt out form. We informed them of their right in the fall and now we have the form to provide to them. Dave emailed that form to us earlier today. Here<\/a> is the English form and here<\/a> is the Spanish form for future reference. Please distribute that as soon as possible (next week would be great) in the same way you normally distribute information to your families. Thank you.<\/p>\n Camp Tamarack-<\/strong><\/span> Earlier this year I shared some changes to our requirements for Camp Tamarack and other over night field trips. I have shared some proposals with cabinet and met with Charlie from Tamarack on a couple of occasions. I would now like to get some feedback from some of you so that we can create a final draft for cabinet approval and presentation to Charlie. Please let me know by the next Wednesday if you would like to meet to help review and revise this with me. I will then schedule a time for interested parties to sit down and hash it out. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.<\/p>\n Magnet Applications-<\/strong><\/span> We are finalizing dates for magnet applications, lottery, etc. We will have those to everyone soon so that you can answer any questions that may come your way. Along with these dates, be on the lookout for information about ACR’s for next year. Yeah, before we know it, we’ll be planning for September, 2017!<\/p>\n Site visits-<\/strong><\/span> Just another reminder that January site visits will focus on your school design plans. I have really enjoyed the conversations I’ve had so far and look forward to learning more about how your school design work is going.<\/p>\n Thanks-<\/strong><\/span> Skip shared with me this afternoon how well represented elementary admin was this morning at the digital leadership training. He was appreciative that so many of you were able to make it and said the conversation\/ discussion was very worthwhile.<\/p>\n Leadership Meeting-<\/span><\/strong> Don’t forget we have a leadership meeting this coming Monday, January 9 @ 3:15 in the board room.<\/p>\n That’s all for now.
