Abbreviated Day-<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 <\/strong>Now is the time of year that the idea of an abbreviated day comes up for some students. Please remember that there are steps and procedures that need to be completed before you can abbreviate a student’s day. Please refer to and follow these guidelines<\/a> when considering abbreviating a student’s day. Call if you have any questions.<\/p>\n Evaluation\/SLGG’s\/Minis-<\/strong> From Jon:<\/strong><\/span> We have made quite a few changes to our expecations around observations, SLGGS, and evaluations in the last couple of years.\u00a0 Some of the changes have come because the state has changed their rules.\u00a0 Some changes have been put in place to help relieve some of your workload. \u00a0Expectations this year look exactly like last year.\u00a0 I\u2019ll do my best to help summarize those expectations.<\/p>\n Student Learning Growth Goals:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0We are still required to have Student Learning Growth Goals. \u00a0The requirement and expectations are still the same. \u00a0The goals still need to reflect student growth. \u00a0For those of you who want to know all the expectations, please see this state guidelines document<\/a> or this quality review checklist<\/a>.<\/p>\n Scoring –\u00a0 Last year we changed how we measure the SLGGs. \u00a0We have removed the state scoring guide and the Oregon Matrix. \u00a0We are required as a district to make sure we are reflecting on SLGGs in the evaluation.\u00a0 We decided to fulfill this requirement by using Domain 4\u00a0Monitoring, Assessment, and Follow-up\u00a0<\/em>in\u00a0our Summative Evaluation Rubric. \u00a0Domain 4 speaks specifically to how teachers use assessments. \u00a0SLGGs should be considered when evaluating\u00a0Domain 4. \u00a0We expect that other factors, like classroom observations, will influence the scoring of this section as well. \u00a0There are five different\u00a0standards in Domain 4. \u00a0The SLGGs may influence one or more standards in this domain. \u00a0We trust that teachers and administrators can have a professional conversation of how much influence that SLGGs had on the scoring.<\/p>\n SLGG Forms-\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0We will be using the same forms with very little change this year. We did remove the scoring guide.\u00a0 HS and MS will use the form in Talent Ed.\u00a0 Elementary see here<\/a> or here.<\/a><\/p>\n Summative Evaluations:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0They will be done like usual except the matrix has been removed. \u00a0All probationary employees are on Summative Evaluation. \u00a0Employees of concern need to be on Summative Evaluation. \u00a0Regular\/Contract employees need a Summative Evaluation every two years.<\/p>\n Observations:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Probationary Employee<\/strong>= Six observations total. Two\u00a0formal observations are required by the state. Four mini observations. \u00a0Two of the minis can be professional.<\/p>\n Employee on\u00a0Summative Evaluation<\/strong>=\u00a0Six mini observations. \u00a0Four classroom observations and two\u00a0professional observations.<\/p>\n Employee not on Summative Evaluation<\/strong>= Three mini observations. \u00a0Two classroom observations and one professional\u00a0observation.<\/p>\n Our committee discussed what counts as a Professional Observation. \u00a0We believe that this includes any meeting where an administrator either observes professional behavior or has a professional conversation with an employee. This may include an EBISS meeting, IEP meeting, PLC meeting, student or parent conference, goal setting meeting, committee work, etc. \u00a0In the case of some meetings, it would be appropriate for an administrator to observe several employees at a time. \u00a0The feedback could be given to the\u00a0group or to an\u00a0individual. \u00a0The important part is to let the employees know that it will be counted as a mini.<\/p>\n The changes will be published in the newest version of The\u00a0Professional Growth and Performance Evaluation Manual. \u00a0We are certain, however, that most employees don’t look at that manual, so it will be up to administrators to share this information with them.<\/p>\n If you have any\u00a0question, then\u00a0please do not hesitate to call me at Ext. 1104.<\/p>\n Dyslexia-<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong> Once again, we are already much of this and our primary efforts moving forward will need to be in the area of notification. What questions do you have about DART? What features would help you most? How can it be improved so that it will help you do your work? Please be on the lookout for Austin’s meeting request.<\/p>\n Amy Howell\/ COCC observers-<\/span> <\/strong>Amy Howell, Early Childhood Education Program Director at COCC, may be contacting you about having students observe in classrooms. She has permission to contact you and you are ok to place or not.<\/p>\n From Hayley E.- <\/strong><\/span>Cristina and Lorna have some resources they would love to share out with K-5 teams to support students with challenging behaviors. They will reach to teams to gauge interest and schedule a time in the coming weeks!<\/p>\n Move up<\/strong><\/span> day-<\/span><\/strong> Middle Schools would like to have middle school move up day on Tuesday, May 21. There are no BLP schools scheduled at outdoor school that week. Please let me know if that won’t work. If I don’t hear from anyone by next Wednesday, I’m going to tell Jim to move forward. Let me know if you have any questions.<\/p>\n From Julianne:<\/span> Schoolwide Standard Response Protocols (SRP) and Reunification Training<\/strong><\/p>\n Every other year we require schools and departments to deliver SRP (lockDOWN, lockOUT, etc.) training to all building staff. The training is delivered by district safety personnel, SROs and fire officials. Please plan on a 50 minute training. One critical aspect of the training is accountable reunification of students with their parents or guardians after a school crisis or emergency.
