Digital Storytelling with iMovie

Students import video clips to get right to iMovie tools

Have you ever wanted to have your class make a movie, but didn’t have enough cameras to keep most students engaged? Not enough time to shoot video footage? Thanks to Apple, there’s a way for you to get footage without turning on a video camera. When Apple had iMovie 2 install CD’s, they included demonstration video clips of two children giving their playful Bernese Mountain Dog a bath in the backyard. I have taken the six short clips and saved them on a hard drive to use every year when introducing digital storytelling using iMovie. From those clips, I have students practice iMovie editing/revising skills as well as writing skills to storyboard the story they would like to tell.
