{"id":2782,"date":"2016-01-14T12:15:52","date_gmt":"2016-01-14T19:15:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/instructionaltechnology\/?p=2782"},"modified":"2016-01-14T12:15:52","modified_gmt":"2016-01-14T19:15:52","slug":"learn-together-using-classkick","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/instructionaltechnology\/2016\/01\/14\/learn-together-using-classkick\/","title":{"rendered":"Learn together using CLASSKICK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>***This app is now available to all schools UPON REQUEST.<\/p>\n<p>Classkick is a cross between a classroom management and collaboration tool \u00a0for teachers who have 1:1 iPads in their classroom. \u00a0 Essentially, the teacher must create, upload a worksheet, or take a photo of the task you want your students to complete into the classkick app on your teacher iPad. \u00a0 The students \u00a0then open\u00a0classkick and enter a code to see what the teacher has uploaded. \u00a0 In seconds, the students begin working on the task using tools similar to the app Notability. \u00a0What is unique is that the teacher sees EVERY student&#8217;s work LIVE on the teacher ipad! \u00a0(thus the classroom management application) \u00a0 This photo shows what \u00a0CLASSKICK looks like from the teacher&#8217;s point of view:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2783\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/instructionaltechnology\/files\/2016\/01\/screen480x480.jpeg\" alt=\"screen480x480\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE&#8230;..Brian Miller, a math teacher at Pacific Crest, showed me that when a student has a question they simply touch the &#8220;raise hand&#8221; icon and their little screen turns red showing that they need help from the teacher. \u00a0 He can also see if a student&#8217;s solution is off course and assist the student before they repeat their mistake over and over again.<\/p>\n<p>Hearing this, I bet most teachers are thinking why would I want to answer questions on tiny screens when I could walk to the student and work with them face to face? \u00a0 Brian pointed out that most kids are going to make similar mistakes in the lesson. \u00a0 \u00a0When enough screens turn red&#8230;he can touch a button that assigns a student\u00a0who needs help with students who\u00a0understand the skill. \u00a0 (thus the collaboration) \u00a0Even better, the students are all given random silly names in this environment so that each kid does NOT KNOW who needs the help&#8230;or who is giving the assistance. \u00a0I love this feature!<\/p>\n<p>Brian states that occasionally\u00a0his teacher iPad\u00a0will quit the application. \u00a0This is most likely due to the heavy amount of connectivity required by this app. \u00a0He pointed out that it is quick for him to reopen the app and that there have been very few instances where students have had connectivity issues. \u00a0It is for this reason that we currently have this app available PER SCHOOL REQUEST. \u00a0That means it will not be in self-service for students until a teacher from your site asks for it by using the web help ticket<a href=\"https:\/\/help.bend.k12.or.us\/helpdesk\/WebObjects\/Helpdesk\"> app request form.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Feel free to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.classkick.com\/home-page-a?utm_expid=112791515-2.Z-KERbprRXe_tK9XA9yuHQ.1&amp;utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F\">visit Classkick&#8217;s website<\/a> or download their app on your teacher iPad\u00a0to learn more about how you might use this unique tool.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>***This app is now available to all schools UPON REQUEST.
