As digital tools continue to evolve, we want to make sure that the resources students use at school are age-appropriate, instructionally aligned, and supportive of safe, reliable research practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of using Google and Bing Search, K\u20135 students will access research topics and information by tapping the Research icon on their iPad home screen. The icon has a magnifying glass and takes students directly to the elementary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blschools.org\/media-center-k-5\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.blschools.org\/media-center-k-5\">Bend-La Pine Schools Media Center website<\/a> where our K-5 research databases are accessed. These databases provide students with a more focused and reliable place to search for information. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blschools.org\/media-center-k-5\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"370\" height=\"396\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/instructionaltechnology\/files\/2026\/06\/Screenshot-2026-06-08-at-1.28.40-PM.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7285\" style=\"width:213px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/instructionaltechnology\/files\/2026\/06\/Screenshot-2026-06-08-at-1.28.40-PM.png 370w, https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/instructionaltechnology\/files\/2026\/06\/Screenshot-2026-06-08-at-1.28.40-PM-280x300.png 280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 370px) 100vw, 370px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students who need images for projects will also have access to a curated image search resource. On the research website, students will find a button that takes them to a <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/gapps.bend.k12.or.us\/image-search\/home\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/gapps.bend.k12.or.us\/image-search\/home\">Safe Image Search<\/a> site. This gives students a safer and more purposeful way to look for images connected to their learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you would like to explore safe and reliable research practices more deeply with your students, please take a look at the related lessons in Wayfinder, accessed via Clever.
