Deschutes Public Library App

For those of you that are avid users of our public library (like me), we now have an app that was made available this week. The Deschutes Public Library app is slick. It makes it easy to place and manage holds, renew items, and search for whatever you’re seeking to find. I can speak for myself that I’m going to use it when I’m browsing the books at Costco. If I see a particular book I want to read, I can put it on hold instantly through this app. All I have to do is click on the search tab on the bottom, choose scan ISBN and scan the ISBN on the back of the book, and then click the blue plus button to put it on hold. Most likely, our public library has it. Another great feature is that it has my library barcode in the app which means I don’t have to carry my card with me anymore. Simple things make me happy!

One thing to note: If you are searching for the app in the App Store on your iPad, you have to change the filter from “iPad only” to iPhone only”, otherwise you won’t be able to find it. Hopefully, this will be corrected soon.

Since this app is so new, it has not yet been added to Self Service for our elementary and middle schools.
