Deschutes Public Library App Now Available!

Screen Shot 2016-04-18 at 3.10.37 PMRecently I blogged about the new Deschutes Public Library App and how fabulous it is. Today, we made it available in Self Service under the category “Family Involvement Apps”. In order to utilize this app, the user must have a library account, hence the family involvement piece. As with any device, it’s also a great idea for parents to be involved in knowing what apps their student has, how they work, as well as the content they contain.

Many of our students are involved in the Deschutes Public Library Linx program which enables students to be able to put books on hold and have them delivered/picked up from their school. In addition, numerous teachers have taken advantage of this program in order to get books to further support their classroom. The convenience of having books delivered and picked up to and from the school is greatly appreciated. This app will make it that much easier.

Within the app, there is a tab along the bottom called “My DPL”. Here students can see if they have anything overdue, what they have on hold, or if they have any fines. It also shows (if they choose to use the features) what books they have completed, are in progress, or what they want to read later.

Another great aspect is that the app contains the library barcode that can be used for checking out items.

BarcodeTry it out, I think you will like it!
