We are so excited to get everyone together to dance, play games, celebrate our year and socialize!  We would love some help with the event.  We are looking for a few parent chaperones and some people to provide some snacks and goodies. RHS Leadership students will lead tours of the campus, lead a team building game, and get to envision what it will be like to go to school on the Brinson campus (which will be awesome, by the way!). <strong>Tour dates will be on Monday, May 16th for our 7th graders and on Tuesday, May 17th for our 6th graders. Each day our visit will be from 11-12:15. <\/strong>We will head back to the Middle School for lunch.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-background wp-block-heading\" id=\"upcoming-dates\" style=\"background-color:#8dc6f1\">Realms Rumble 5K Run and Walk on May 31st<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Let&#8217;s get ready to RUMBLE!!!! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Realms Rumble is an end-of-year tradition at Realms Middle School which we have not been able to host since 2019. We are SO excited to bring back this fun exercise-based initiative for every student at our school! The Realms Rumble provides a chance for students to exercise to the extent they want while also being social with their peers outside of the classroom and eating some healthy snacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Rumble is a 5k (3.1 miles) fun run.  All students at REALMS will have a chance to sign up for the heat which best suits the experience they want to have (All Walking, Walking\/Jogging, and Running).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, it will take place on May 31st at 1:30pm at the Realms Middle School campus and surrounding neighborhood. The course is a loop and students will have to do laps to complete the 5k. Volunteers will be at stations around the loop to help direct students. All waivers extended during the pandemic emergency will end on the last day of the 2021-2022 school year.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Summer lunch meals will continue to be free to all children 18 years and under, however the meal will now have to be eaten on site and &#8220;grab and go&#8221; or parent pick up is no longer an option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For next school year, school meals will be paid, free, or reduced price which will require an application to be completed after Aug 1<sup>st<\/sup>, except for students attending community eligibility provision (CEP) schools. The CEP schools for 2022-2023 are: Bear Creek Elementary, Ensworth Elementary, Pilot Butte Middle, Bend Tech Academy at Marshall High, Three Rivers, La Pine Elementary, La Pine Middle, La Pine High, and Rosland Elementary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More people may qualify for the meals program due to the Student Success Act. The State of Oregon&nbsp;supports students who do not qualify for free and reduced meal benefits using federal income guidelines. It provides meal benefits to households with incomes above 185% but not exceeding 300% of the federal poverty guidelines. This means that a family of 4 with an annual income of $79,500 could qualify for meals at no cost. We will be tackling these assessment in May. These assessments are, in many ways, more important than ever. We know that the pandemic has impacted student learning, and these assessments provide us with useful data about achievement in key math and literacy skills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-text-align-center has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#c50202\"><strong>We strongly encourage all students to participate in these assessments. <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scores on these assessments have NO BEARING on a student&#8217;s grades or their educational future, but they DO provide students with an opportunity to practice taking standardized tests that will push them to think, to persist, and to problem solve&#8230; and THESE are WORTHY SKILLS!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The results ALSO provide our school with useful data about overall trends around skills and achievement that help us strengthen our curriculum!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By law, schools must provide &#8220;Notice of Statewide Tests and Opt Out Form&#8221; 30 days before the tests begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/ode\/educator-resources\/assessment\/Documents\/notice_opt_out_form_English.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">2021-22 Opt Out Letter<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#bd0303\"><strong>For students who choose to opt out&#8230;.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because our school is small and our staffing is limited, students who choose to opt out with a signed opt out form will need to bring homework to work on and\/or a book to read. Students will only be testing for 1 period per day, and those not testing will be IN THE SAME ROOM and expected to work silently, without disturbing or distracting the students who will be testing in the room. <strong>This will be STRICTLY enforced!!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-background wp-block-heading\" id=\"upcoming-dates\" style=\"background-color:#8dc6f1\">Transportation Is Looking For Bus Drivers&#8230;<strong>Drive and Apply Events Every Thursday in Bend, La Pine<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Community members are invited to test drive a school bus on an obstacle course, enjoy a free pizza lunch and get a job interview on the spot during interactive transportation job fairs hosted by Bend-La Pine Schools every Thursday for the next six weeks.
