{"id":18,"date":"2015-11-25T04:16:14","date_gmt":"2015-11-25T04:16:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/jim.boen\/?p=18"},"modified":"2015-11-25T04:36:51","modified_gmt":"2015-11-25T04:36:51","slug":"9-18-15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/jim.boen\/2015\/11\/25\/9-18-15\/","title":{"rendered":"9-18-15"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I have gone back and forth as to whether I wanted to send out a weekly (or at least regular) email to you regarding items I think you should or might like to be aware of. \u00a0I want to be a good communicator and keep you in the loop, but also don\u2019t want to take up your time or add to the clogging of your inbox. \u00a0So where I have landed (currently) is the idea of trying to withhold emails to you throughout the week regarding \u201cstuff\u201d coming up, but will try and capture these things and send you an email on Friday or over the weekend highlighting these things. \u00a0With that said, if I don\u2019t have updates to report I definitely won\u2019t make things up just to send you an email. \u00a0However, if you would like to hear from me or be disappointed in not seeing my name in your inbox at least weekly just let me know and I\u2019ll come up with a quote or funny photo to send you. \u00a0Deal?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This week there are some, I feel, important items to pass along\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">You may have heard me talk about Reid Training in the past. \u00a0It is, by far, the best training you can get regarding doing your work related to student management\/discipline. \u00a0Occasionally you may need it with adults too, which is just a bonus. \u00a0This training isn\u2019t cheap, but not expensive considering it is three days. \u00a0With this said, the good news is that it will be held here in Bend for the first time of my knowledge. \u00a0The bad news is that it is next week! \u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/a\/gapps.bend.k12.or.us\/document\/d\/108EyczLgYCft9B0F8Y1JIp2Xv4Z0letvl2SdH9ARwSE\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\">Click Here!<\/a>) Math has been added to existing district SIW dates \u2013 including next week. \u00a0Your math folks don\u2019t know this yet, but any that are involved in the CMP3 pilot are being asked to attend a meeting at Pilot Butte MS to discuss and plan for this pilot. \u00a0Time will be from 1:45 \u2013 3:15 and rooms will be determined and communicated in the coming days (or your teacher can stop by the office and ask upon his\/her arrival). \u00a0There will be three rooms available for meeting space and your teachers will need to choose between attending one focused on 6th, 7th, or 8th grade instruction. \u00a0<i>Please communicate this add\/change to your CMP3 math folks!<\/i><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Likely this will not be the final version of the district SIW calendar. \u00a0I believe the last three district SIW dates (all but next week\u2019s) will include time for our science teachers to gather and do some work around NGSS and alignment. \u00a0This is not reflected on the attached document, but will likely be added in the coming weeks. \u00a0[I feel confident enough about this happening that you can feel free to let your science teachers know that the planning for this is in the works.]<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Monday afternoon we\u2019ll be meeting at CMS at 3:15 for our first Horizontal of the year. \u00a0I\u2019ll send you an email with an agenda and other documents on Monday morning related to this meeting. \u00a0See you all there!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The first full week of the 2015-16 school year is nearly in the books. \u00a0I want to relay to you again how much I enjoy working with you and appreciate the oversight and leadership you provide to our MS staff and students!
