Principals, please complete this &#8211; to your best of your ability &#8211; sometime in August. I&#8217;ll review these. Assistant principals, please complete your calendar and share it with your principal. Let me know if you have any questions regarding this.    ___________________________________________________________<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As I mentioned last week, there are a couple of AR&#8217;s that have been temporarily updated due to distance learning\/Covid. These are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bend.k12.or.us\/district\/organization\/policies-search\/2020\/08\/jc-ar-attendance-area-district-transfers\">JC-AR: Attendance Areas &amp; In-District Transfers<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bend.k12.or.us\/district\/organization\/policies-search\/2020\/08\/igbhab-ar-magnet-school-guiding-principles-application-process\">IGBHAB-AR: Choice Option Schools &amp; Programs<\/a>. One change to note (from last week): The timeframe for holding a student&#8217;s spot has been extended from end of first semester to this entire year.     _________________________________________________________<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most of you do not have your master schedule finalized yet. Once you do, please <strong>share your bell schedule<\/strong> (even though we know we are not starting with students in the building) <strong>with your head cook<\/strong>. Nutrition Services need to see these in order to generate work times for nutritional support employees at your site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">THIS and THAT:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lora communicated this week a few <strong>changes to our district meeting calendar<\/strong> that you need to be aware of. First, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">August 11<\/span> had been reserved for our Leadership meeting. Instead, please <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">plan on meeting from 1:00 &#8211; 3:00 as a  Horizontal team<\/span>. I&#8217;ll likely not need this much time, but would rather have you excited to leave 5 minutes early (\ud83d\ude01) than drag on beyond what I told you. Let&#8217;s meet in my Webex personal room. She also communicated that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">August 19<\/span> had been reserved for Safety Day. This will now become the date of our Leadership meeting. I don&#8217;t have a lot of specifics yet as to time (likely morning) and location (likely spread out at multiple buildings), but this may be an in-person meeting, pending next week&#8217;s ODE guidance update. More to come on this&#8230;    _______________________________________________________<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is more of a &#8220;begin to think about&#8221; than a &#8220;to do&#8221; item&#8230; As we start the year with Distance Learning, most of your staff will be quite busy. However, you also have a few staff who&#8217;s main responsibility involve direct student contact (e.g. some EA&#8217;s, attendance secretary, etc.) and will not be as busy doing her\/his traditional work. Please begin thinking about who these folks are, as well as some areas where they can be engaged with supporting teaching\/learning. We will talk a bit more about this next Tuesday (see above bullet if you just thought to yourself &#8220;what&#8217;s next Tuesday?&#8221;).    ___________________________________________________________<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may likely be aware of this already, but I wanted to pass this along just in case. We have a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bend.k12.or.us\/district\/home\/return-school\/return-school-faq\" target=\"_blank\">district Return to School FAQ page<\/a> that is constantly being added to and updated. This is a resource page that I suggest you become familiar with as well as communicate with your staff and families.    __________________________________________________________<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sean recently shared this &#8211; but wanted to make sure that this was on your radar if you were planning on bringing a team to the <strong>Jim Sporleder training<\/strong> later this month. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/18ozFgNdq0bepWELrgDVzHvSdrl0X_FZt\/view?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\">Here is the flyer<\/a> &#8211; that does not include a few updates: All school leadership teams are now welcome to join both day 1 and 2 (not just priority schools on day 2).&nbsp; Also, there are reimbursement funds to pay teachers that are attending outside their contracted days.&nbsp; You can access those funds through the ESD.&nbsp; The reimbursement is predicated on the fact the staff member is part of a team with the building administrator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">REMINDERS:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I use the thought of &#8220;reminder&#8221; loosely here &#8211; as you didn&#8217;t know about it until you started reading this blog post, but please put an <strong>MS Horizontal meeting on your calendar for next Tuesday (8\/11) from 1:00 &#8211; 3:00<\/strong>.
