{"id":28,"date":"2015-11-25T04:50:25","date_gmt":"2015-11-25T04:50:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/jim.boen\/?p=28"},"modified":"2015-11-25T04:50:35","modified_gmt":"2015-11-25T04:50:35","slug":"11-1-15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/jim.boen\/2015\/11\/25\/11-1-15\/","title":{"rendered":"11-1-15"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Expeditionary Learning (EL) conference that I attended this week was a bit overwhelming, in a good way. \u00a0My head is full of things to think about and my bag bursting with materials to sift through. \u00a0From a distance I felt there were good things happening at REALMS, and I now have a better picture of what those \u201cthings\u201d are grounded in. \u00a0Kudos to Roger and his team for living out what I was learning this week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Reminders:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Don\u2019t forget Daylight Savings Time switch is this weekend. \u00a0It is time to \u201cfall back\u201d one hour!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Next Thursday, Nov. 5, 3:15 \u2013 4:30 : ACT Aspire training held at HDMS. \u00a0Plan on bringing a team from your school that may include: admin, ICCL, core teachers, data queens\/kings, others. Those trained will then train others in your building. \u00a0Elementary principals will also be invited, so it will likely be a very full library. \u00a0Please plan accordingly if you want to sit with your school team.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">New Information:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Following is information from Sydney Gill, regional representative for American Heart Association. \u00a0I recently met with Sydney and a Portland representative about how AHA can support\/enhance the work being done in our middle schools around heart health activities and education. \u00a0In addition to the below information, <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/u\/2\/folders\/0BwH82Aoi_UKTcGdhZHllRlJQcDA\">here<\/a> is\u00a0a document that includes contact information, facts and available support for your teachers around this topic.<\/span>\n<ul class=\"ul2\">\n<li class=\"li3\"><i><\/i><span class=\"s1\"><i>As educators, we all know the importance of\u00a0<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>developing the\u00a0whole child (mind and body), which includes\u00a0<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>exercise, nutrition, living tobacco free and connecting to our community. That is why I am proud of our partnership with the American Heart Association through Jump Rope &amp; Hoops for Heart and our joint efforts to fight childhood obesity.
