{"id":721,"date":"2017-08-18T00:31:13","date_gmt":"2017-08-18T00:31:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/jim.boen\/?p=721"},"modified":"2017-08-18T00:31:13","modified_gmt":"2017-08-18T00:31:13","slug":"8-18-17","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/jim.boen\/2017\/08\/18\/8-18-17\/","title":{"rendered":"8.18.17"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>This and That:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There will be four <strong>District SIW dates<\/strong> for middle school staff this year. \u00a0Here are those dates: 10\/18, 11\/29, 2\/28, 4\/25. \u00a0Please plan around these dates when you are considering PD plans for your staff during School Improvement Wednesday times.<\/li>\n<li>Continue thinking about your plan for <strong>sub break(s) and lunch<\/strong>. \u00a0Let me know if you have any questions regarding how you might make a plan work for your building. \u00a0As you think through this, here are some resources that might be helpful. \u00a0This is a <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/a\/gapps.bend.k12.or.us\/file\/d\/0BwH82Aoi_UKTU0FDUjkza1FuT0U\/view?usp=sharing\">copy of the letter<\/a> that has gone out to all HDESD registered subs. \u00a0From our discussion this morning, this is what I thought you said might be your <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/a\/gapps.bend.k12.or.us\/document\/d\/1IuoQRPtucmxxTCJMypae--qR5PTWE-0dlbULVS6Hi1Q\/edit?usp=sharing\">initial thinking on how you will provide breaks\/lunch<\/a>. \u00a0Please feel free to update\/correct anything I may have misunderstood or you&#8217;ve had additinoal thoughts regarding. \u00a0Lastly, CMS was able to dig in today and get to a place where they have a plan based on whether the regular teacher has a <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/a\/gapps.bend.k12.or.us\/file\/d\/0BwH82Aoi_UKTT3RlVWtvazJZSkU\/view?usp=sharing\">morning prep<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/a\/gapps.bend.k12.or.us\/file\/d\/0BwH82Aoi_UKTX25wbXN1ZGxSVVk\/view?usp=sharing\">afternoon prep<\/a>. \u00a0All of these documents are within the BLS Docs tab.<\/li>\n<li>Also connected to subs and <strong>AESOP automated calls<\/strong>, the question came up today as to whether a school could have two different sub start times. \u00a0The answer is &#8220;yes&#8221; this is possible. \u00a0If you are interested in this possibility (as CMS is), please let me know and I&#8217;ll help you get connected to the folks who can support this happening.<\/li>\n<li>I will be out of the office next Friday (8\/25) as we&#8217;ll be taking our youngest son off to college. \u00a0Feel free, as always, to give me a call or text on my cell if you need anything.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Reminders:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The eclipse on Monday (8\/21) has created some stir in Central Oregon. \u00a0As you are likely aware, we, as a district, have decided that we will be &#8220;closed to the public&#8221;
