How might you communicate your heart for someone&#8217;s success <em>before<\/em> you need to provide feedback?<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>School Board has &#8220;adopted&#8221; schools<\/strong> for this year.\u00a0 What this means is that you may have a board member reach out to you &#8211; or you can feel free to reach out to her\/him &#8211; for a visit, gather your input or insights, or just touch bases with you to see how things are going this year. Thank you in advance for making your &#8220;adopter&#8221; feel welcome and a valued piece of the work that you do. <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/a\/gapps.bend.k12.or.us\/file\/d\/0BwH82Aoi_UKTQXdJRXZ1MktlcHM\/view?usp=sharing\">Here is this year&#8217;s adoption list and School Board email contact info<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>As you likely have heard, our <strong>Oregon Report Card<\/strong> is going to receive an overhaul. \u00a0With ESSA coming on board, the Report Card that provides feedback\/rating to the public schools in our state is going to have a new look. \u00a0Here is a <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/a\/gapps.bend.k12.or.us\/file\/d\/0BwH82Aoi_UKTRmM4dXcxc2tySm8\/view?usp=sharing\">Frequently Asked Questions<\/a> 1-pager that highlights the changes that are known at this point. \u00a0Additionally, the new ratings will fall within three categories (Opportunity to Learn, Academic Success, and College and Career Readiness) &#8211; without giving a school an overall mark. \u00a0Sounds a little like our &#8220;three buckets&#8221; of School Design work, doesn&#8217;t it? \u00a0Within this sample <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/a\/gapps.bend.k12.or.us\/file\/d\/0BwH82Aoi_UKTemJjQlhYWEtFMVU\/view?usp=sharing\">ESSA Report Card<\/a> you will see three new indicators that will be included: Chronic Absenteeism, Freshmen-On-Track, and Five-year High School Completion Rates. \u00a0Only Chronic Absenteeism will be rated for middle schools.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Happy Birthday<\/strong> on Thursday to Steve Stancliff!<\/li>\n<li>Mindy Drake, PE teacher at Silver Rail Elem., is the director of <strong>Oregon SHAPE<\/strong> which is our statewide <strong>physical education and health association<\/strong>. She has asked that we help communicate some exciting news:This year we are having our annual conference in Bend on October 13th &amp; 14th, and we wanted to formally invite all the administrators in the District to attend the conference or even portions of the conference.\u00a0 As part of our advocacy plan we comp the registration for any administrator who would like to attend.\u00a0\u00a0We do offer PDU credits for attendance, and this year we have Dean Kriellaars as our keynote.\u00a0 He was the keynote speaker at our National Conference in Boston this year, and the opportunity to listen to him speak about physical literacy is unique and exciting.\u00a0 With the whole child emphasis that our district is turning to as well as bucket work, he speaks in a highly engaging way to all three buckets.\u00a0 \u00a0If you&#8217;d like to know more about him, click on the link below for additional info.\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pise.ca\/dr-dean-kriellaars-health-physical-literacy\/\">http:\/\/www.pise.ca\/dr-dean-kriellaars-health-physical-literacy\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In addition to Dr. Kriellaars acting as our keynote, we have also paired with ODE and the PEAK coalition to talk about the new release of Oregon Physical Education standards and to address information with regard to HB 3141 (as it was formerly known).\u00a0 There will be\u00a0sessions that have the most current info on the law and its implementation.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/a\/gapps.bend.k12.or.us\/file\/d\/0BwH82Aoi_UKTeDI1M1JfNmQxTXM\/view?usp=sharing\">Here is a flyer regarding this conference<\/a>.\u00a0 If you or another building administrator is interested in attending, they can contact Mindy directly and she will help with the registration process.\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 1em\">And finally, there are new tools for evaluating health and physical education programs, some of which could be quite useful and streamline the evaluation process for principals.\u00a0Contact Mindy if you\u2019d like to learn more about these.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Reminders:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We are having a <strong>Leadership meeting on Monday<\/strong> in the Board Room.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t forget to bring some ideas\/examples of a SDP &#8220;challenge&#8221; you are currently facing.\u00a0 Also, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">each school should plan on bringing a laptop to use during this meeting<\/span>.
