{"id":89,"date":"2016-01-22T20:24:42","date_gmt":"2016-01-22T20:24:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/jim.boen\/?p=89"},"modified":"2016-01-22T20:24:42","modified_gmt":"2016-01-22T20:24:42","slug":"1-22-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/jim.boen\/2016\/01\/22\/1-22-16\/","title":{"rendered":"1.22.16"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This and That:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There is some work being done on the Principal Summative Evaluation. \u00a0The focus of this work is around some proposed changes for this year &#8211; including reducing the number of areas to be evaluated (scored) from 51 Standards to a maximum of 12 Domains. \u00a0All of the former Standards are still included in the evaluation, but serve more as &#8220;look fors&#8221; when scoring the Domains, whereas the old evaluation did not require a score for the overall Domain. \u00a0Yesterday a team met (including all of those involved with creating the current principal evaluation) to hear the details of this recommendation, with the feedback gathered going to Cabinet for consideration on Monday. \u00a0If changes are recommended, they will be presented at our February Leadership meeting and implemented this on this spring&#8217;s administrator evaluation. \u00a0Stay tuned for more on this&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Here is some exciting news! \u00a0PSU and <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/u\/1\/folders\/0BwH82Aoi_UKTcGdhZHllRlJQcDA\" target=\"_blank\">Center for Geography Education<\/a> is sponsoring\u00a0a 16 day trip across Spain this July. \u00a0Any PreK-12 Oregon teacher may apply for this wonderful opportunity. \u00a0Most expenses are covered (besides a few meals and tuition for the credits) &#8211; which is the amazing part of this opportunity. \u00a0Feel free to pass this along to any of your teachers, as this is not limited to those with social science degrees.<\/li>\n<li>I recently received a jury summons (again) for serving a two-week term. \u00a0Earlier this fall I received my first summons, and asked for a deferral &#8211; which I received until now. \u00a0February 1 &#8211; 12 is my two-week appointment. \u00a0Obviously, I do not know if I will actually be required\u00a0to appear or not, but I did want to give you a heads-up that it may be possible. \u00a0If I do have to report I will check email and texts as often as I can, but office voicemail will not be as available and thus not\u00a0checked as often.<\/li>\n<li>Here are updates, as of Jan. 20, 2016, of your building <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/u\/1\/folders\/0BwH82Aoi_UKTcGdhZHllRlJQcDA\" target=\"_blank\">SIF<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/u\/1\/folders\/0BwH82Aoi_UKTcGdhZHllRlJQcDA\" target=\"_blank\">Discretionary<\/a> Funds. \u00a0Let me know if you have any questions regarding these.<\/li>\n<li>And finally, a shout-out to Roger as one of our country&#8217;s newest citizens! \u00a0Roger recently went through the rigors of being tested on\u00a0US History topics, filling out paperwork, being scanned, fingerprinted and saying\u00a0the right things in his interview to\u00a0become\u00a0a US Citizen. \u00a0Way to go, eh!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Reminders:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our Horizontal meeting is Monday from 3:15 &#8211; 4:45. \u00a0We&#8217;ll be meeting at HDMS. \u00a0Here is the <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/u\/1\/folders\/0BwH82Aoi_UKTcGdhZHllRlJQcDA\" target=\"_blank\">agenda<\/a>.
