Please communicate to your school community in your newsletter and website 6th grade only day-Wednesday, September 7th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Grades 7th & 8th start Thursday, September 8th. This is a change in practice to give 6th graders a full day of orientation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This information will be important to share to avoid any confusion for our middle school families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Key Back to School News<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Prioritizing Restorative Practices<\/em> training and implementation for Building Leaders: <\/p>\n\n\n\n As we continue our work towards student management practices that foster belonging, we require that all Assistant Principals & Deans attend training<\/strong> on Restorative Practices.<\/em> The fall training is scheduled for October 5 & 26th (both Wednesdays) 12:00-4:00 on both days in the Ed. Center Boardroom (rm 314). Please sign up for this training<\/strong> if you have not yet been trained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Here is a link listing BLS staff and if they have been trained in Restorative Practices in the past: BLS IIRP Admin.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Here is the link to register for the training: October 5 & 26 IIRP Training Registration<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The training will be facilitated by Amber McGill, one of our Culture of Care<\/em> coaches who works with the HDESD. She can also be reached if you have specific questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n MS teaming structures and admin leads: <\/p>\n\n\n\n Please complete this 22-23 Secondary <\/a>Teaming Structure Survey<\/a> asking for the building administrator who will lead each of your school teams AND the meeting dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Each school needs to reconvene Site Council <\/strong>this year. HERE <\/a>is the law related to the Oregon Educational Act for the 21st Century<\/em>, which requires every school to have a Site Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Additionally, the focus for SIW time is collaboration time\/PLC work and professional development. Please schedule staff meetings <\/strong>(sit and get; announcements) 8:00-8:30 one day a week. Indicate the day you will meet<\/strong> on the survey \u2013 you may cancel, but it is proactive to have the time\/date reserved on staff calendars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Let’s talk about this as a middle group. Send your pics to Marta Broberg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n From Julianne and Scott: <\/p>\n\n\n\n We are looking forward to seeing you for this year\u2019s Safe and Secure Schools Workshop <\/strong>on Wednesday,<\/em> August 17 at the Bend High School Auditorium.<\/em> Here is the agenda.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The designated Safety Administrator<\/strong> from each building attends the 8:00-1:00 session.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The designated HS Safety Administrator and their Campus Monitor<\/strong>(s)* attend the 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. session.<\/strong> All others are excused after completing COVID-19 plan template. *(CM\u2019s will be time sheeted.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n ZYDECO kitchen and cocktails<\/a> will be providing \u2018boxed lunches\u2019 for these trainings. In order to prepare appropriately for these meals, we need you to respond to this survey by noon on Friday, Aug. 12<\/strong> If you are not able to respond prior to this deadline you may not receive the meal of your choice, but you will have a meal available. Feel free to also bring your own personal reusable water bottle as a fill station will be available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n From the Teaching and Learning Team: <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Innovative Teaching and Learning Conference <\/em>is coming up on August 24th and 25th<\/strong> at Pacific Crest Middle School. Teachers will attend Canvas training a various locations in the afternoon. If you are interested in working with leveled teams (ex: Spanish 1) to design and plan modules for our new materials, please sign up for DAY 2 of the Innovation conference in Performance Matters). This will count as your day 190. Folks who attend will listen to the keynote speaker, which will finish at 10:00. Our module planning teams will have the rest of the time to divide and conquer and plan. Look for the August Communication tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n ACR Update: <\/p>\n\n\n\n The ACR team met this week to approve the remaining appeals and those on the waiting list for the 22-23 school year. We are notifying families regarding the status of their ACR. Stephanie will notify your registrars of approved ACR\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Prior to the start of school, we will review and approve one for one\u2019s (same grade and schools) by August 26th and again for semester 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Just a reminder that we are no longer revoking ACR\u2019s. <\/strong>Mid year school change requests will be reviewed three times a year, prior to the beginning of trimester 2 and 3 and semester 2 by the Tier 3 secondary team that met every Friday last year. Eric will share this process in more detail at our upcoming work session. Our goal is to move away from mid year requests as this is not best practice.
