As in previous years, SEED remains optional for 3<sup>rd<\/sup>-12<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;grade students, it takes about 15 minutes, and is delivered through the OSAS secure testing browser with the same menu of accessibility supports. SEED contains four domains: (1) Access to Learning Resources, (2) Opportunity to Learn, (3) Self-Efficacy Beliefs, and (4) Sense of Belonging. &nbsp;Two of these domains are content specific; that is, items measuring Opportunity to Learn and Self-Efficacy Beliefs are written to align with key academic expectations. Content areas are sampled by grade as follows:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 Reading\/Language Arts Grades 3, 6, and 9&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 Mathematics Grades 4, 7, and 10&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 Science Grades 5, 8, and 11&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 Native American Culture\/History (OTL only) Grades 4-11<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additional information to help you determine whether your school (or even specific grade levels) might participate, including all survey questions, is available here\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/ode\/educator-resources\/assessment\/Pages\/Student_Educational_Equity_Development_Survey.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/ode\/educator-resources\/assessment\/Pages\/Student_Educational_Equity_Development_Survey.aspx<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Contact Dave VanLoo or Stephanie Bent with any questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-blue-color has-text-color\">This and That <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-blue-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">From Lora Nordquist<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Principals and LLC Members,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a follow up to my announcement yesterday about an additional principals\u2019 meeting this spring on&nbsp;<strong>Monday, May 22, in the board room:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>3:00-3:30 is OPTIONAL. Dave is going to share a strategy for schools interested in focusing more directly on instructional practices in their school design work next year. The goal is to get feedback and learn what resources schools may need if they want to participate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3:30-4:00 (ish) is mandatory. Steve will share additional information about budget and possible impacts on schools.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last day of School for 8th graders<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am looping back around to you about 8<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;grader\u2019s last day of school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may make attendance optional for 8<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;graders on the last day of school Friday, June 16<sup>th<\/sup>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I know many of you have an 8<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0grade promotion, or some event\/celebration on Thursday, June 15. Therefore, making Thursday their last day of middle school. Communicate with your 8<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0grade families that June 16, attendance is optional for their student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-blue-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">From Jackie Mueller<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">May is the walk and bike challenge for staff. If your school has some active commuters via walking or biking, this is a great way to get involved and eventually get rewards.
