We are hopeful that the new default setting “Everyone for 10 Minutes” will be beneficial in preventing some of the student AirDrop behaviors we’ve seen in the past. Keep in mind that the setting must be manually changed each time AirDrop is needed and will only remain open for 10 minutes before defaulting off. If teachers have trouble with students AirDropping items other than requested schoolwork, they can change their MacBook AirDrop setting to “Contacts Only” and they will no longer appear on the student screen (MacBooks do not have the mobile “Everyone for 10 Minutes” option). AirDrop has been requested several times this year by middle school teachers; it is especially handy in classes that share media between devices (yearbook, journalism, design, CS) but many teachers might find ways to benefit from it. Your media managers and client services are aware of this change.

From Tracy Howk

Apple Classroom is a great tool for teachers of all grade levels.
