Principals, you are strongly encouraged to additionally&nbsp;<strong>process<\/strong>&nbsp;your school\u2019s data with your families and students, particularly, with your&nbsp;<strong>principal\u2019s student advisory team<\/strong>, with the intention of setting school improvement and student learning growth goals (SLGGS). However, processing with these groups is not required this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-very-light-gray-to-cyan-bluish-gray-gradient-background has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-c01653d99cc32286d611abdf3a0fde7b\" style=\"color:#057af5\">This or That <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-blue-color has-blush-light-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-5e5c4d487c1cf855a29f753da9c20305 wp-block-paragraph\">From Nick Shein in the Business Office&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we approach the end of the year, we wanted to get some quick accounting information and reminders out to you all.&nbsp; Please review, and reach out to Nick Shein (<a href=\"mailto:nick.shein@bend.k12.or.us\">nick.shein@bend.k12.or.us<\/a>) if you have any questions or concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Budgets:&nbsp; A recap of the typical funds available to you&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/14IQxm52DUwX0BXW4lsgjE0LnyVtrgISR\/edit?usp=sharing&amp;ouid=113868335263779891565&amp;rtpof=true&amp;sd=true\">can be found here<\/a>&nbsp;in case you are looking for other budgets to charge expenses too.&nbsp; It is perfectly acceptable to move allowable expenses out of your discretionary budgets and into some of these other funds as a way to balance your budgets or to preserve the spending flexibility that your discretionary budgets provide (ie discretionary can be spent on the widest variety of items).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Carry Overs:&nbsp; With the reductions planned for next year, we are allowing a carry over of 20% in your school discretionary and athletics budgets this year. That is up from the typical 10%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Petty cash: If you have petty cash, please make sure it is counted and reconciled before you close your school for the summer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guidance on Gift Cards:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For Staff:&nbsp; Gift cards for staff CANNOT be purchased with District funds at any time or for any reason.&nbsp; You may, however, purchase gift cards with your personal funds (your own pocket) and give them to staff so long as the value is less than the gift threshold of $50<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For Students:&nbsp; Gift cards CAN be purchased with District funds for students as prizes or incentives.&nbsp; The value must be $10 or less, and the cards must only be valid for stores that do not sell alcohol, tobacco or other items inappropriate for students.&nbsp; You must keep an inventory of the cards if purchasing in bulk. The exception is Title\u2013please do not buy any gift cards with Title funds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For FAN:\u00a0 Your FAN advocates cannot accept gift cards to be used for FAN families, so your school should not solicit gift cards for FAN.\u00a0 Your PTOs are separate entities and, though inadvisable, CAN do a gift card drive for FAN if they really want too.\u00a0 However, the PTO must maintain ownership of the cards and will ultimately have to donate the cards to the FAN Foundation instead of your advocate (\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/familyaccessnetwork.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/familyaccessnetwork.org\/<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/juan.cuadros\/files\/2024\/05\/School-Funds-Recap.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/juan.cuadros\/files\/2024\/05\/School-Funds-Recap.pdf\">School Funds Recap<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-blue-color has-blush-light-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-d753159ed74da28d3120cb9736e8cbff wp-block-paragraph\">From Scott McDonald<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Greetings,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are receiving this email because a majority of schools were slated for either a complete swap of their student iPads or were going to be receiving replacements for 6<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;and 7<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;gen iPads. This swap is currently on hold. A purchase is still anticipated, but the timeline has changed.&nbsp; The determining factors for this delay are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Moving to the next generation of iPad involves investment in peripheral technology that is greater than anticipated &#8211; namely keyboard and headphone adaptors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Logistical and instructional considerations that may impact school locations that actually need to swap devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At this time, plan on your roll-in to continue as planned outside of any devices being retired. iPads will need to be stored like in years past by student last name, next year\u2019s teacher, etc. The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/gapps.bend.k12.or.us\/ipadroll-in\/spring-roll-in\">Tier 1 website<\/a>&nbsp;will reflect these changes as soon as possible. Please reach out to your building\u2019s IT Client Services tech, a fellow Tier 1 or Roy Fuller for help or idea\u2019s for rolling in. For a quick reference see below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elementary iPads<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">K-4<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;grade iPads will stay with the current student<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;grade will roll down to incoming KG<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Middle School iPads<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">6<sup>th<\/sup>-7<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;grade iPads will stay with the current student<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">8<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;grade iPads will roll down to incoming 6<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;graders<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">High School iPads<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">9<sup>th<\/sup>-11<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;grade students will keep their device over summer<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">12<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;grade iPads will roll down to incoming 9<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;graders<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We will continue to remove any 6<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;gen iPads that have issues or swap any 6<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;or 7<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;gen iPad for a student who needs a newer device for OCR support as we\u2019ve always done. High Schools will continue to receive 9<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;gens as replacements to keep device types consistent.
