Just a reminder that <strong>Feb 19, March 4, April 1, May 6 and June 11<\/strong> are the member-directed individual work dates during SIW.  There are two more District SIW dates:  <strong>Feb 12 and March 11.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The window for completing the upcoming <strong>Resiliency<\/strong> survey is <strong>Feb. 24 \u2013 April 3<\/strong>.  This survey is related to the <strong>Culture of Care<\/strong> work we are doing regionally.  <strong>Next week you\u2019ll receive an email <\/strong>asking you to <strong>sign-up for your school to administer this survey,<\/strong> as well as <strong>a parent letter to communicate<\/strong> prior to your administration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">February is <strong>Black History Month<\/strong> \u2013 and a great opportunity for you\/your staff to shine a light on a group of people who are often not discussed (outside of slavery) in terms of what they have contributed to US history. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/instructionaltechnology\/2020\/01\/30\/black-history-month\/\" target=\"_blank\">Here are some resources<\/a> for you and your staff to generate ideas (or simply take and use) over the course of the next four weeks (and beyond).     <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our STC team recently reviewed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/ed\/2018\/04\/25\/605092520\/high-paying-trade-jobs-sit-empty-while-high-school-grads-line-up-for-university?fbclid=IwAR0hueEuntJ7T3VuKa3W2JIruvDIUC-xnwlcYf1kbMgI58E0lHDEZiub0Zc\">this article<\/a>.  I thought you might find it interesting.  There is more than one pathway to success!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dave shared <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/nickmorrison\/2020\/01\/29\/its-gpas-not-standardized-tests-that-predict-college-success\/#5f5e51ca32bd\">this article<\/a> about <strong>GPA being a stronger predictor of college success than standardized tests. <\/strong> Turns out &#8211; the higher the GPA, the greater the probability the student will graduate from college!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Calendar: <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Feb 3, 3:15 Leadership meeting<\/strong> &#8211; Part of the agenda includes an overview of our focus for our SIA dollars.   I am unable to attend that Leadership meeting as Gary, Jim, Sean and I will be at a training Monday-Wednesday.
