{"id":134,"date":"2018-10-20T17:32:45","date_gmt":"2018-10-20T17:32:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/katie.legace\/?p=134"},"modified":"2018-10-20T17:32:45","modified_gmt":"2018-10-20T17:32:45","slug":"october-19-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/katie.legace\/2018\/10\/20\/october-19-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"October 19, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>HS Building Leaders<\/strong>, I continued to be humbled by the work you are leading with staff, students and parents.\u00a0 Know that I appreciate the <strong>dynamic challenges you face<\/strong> and want to help you be the best you can be in your <strong>ever-expanding<\/strong> roles!<\/p>\n<p><strong>TO DO:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>*Please continue to share your thoughts related to the <strong>SBAC Student Engagement<\/strong> ideas Jay discussed at our meeting Monday.\u00a0 \u00a0To recap:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students who meet SBAC earn a .5 for math passage and .5 for reading with no grade impact<\/li>\n<li>Students who exceed SBAC earn the same credit and a weighted grade on their transcript.<\/li>\n<li>Jon offered the idea of credit based on significant improvement on the SBAC test.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*The <strong>Gallup Student Poll<\/strong> closes permanently on<strong> Oct. 26.<\/strong> Our district\u2019s target is 90% participation.\u00a0 Dave Van Loo sent the participation percentages by school last week so you can see where your school stands.<\/p>\n<p>*Thank you to those who have <strong>completed your MAC Survey<\/strong>.\u00a0 If you haven&#8217;t already, please do so AND encourage your staff to complete theirs, as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Informational:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here is a note from <strong>Mara Stephens, our District Project HELP Coordinator and Homeless Liaison:<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 12px\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>With our first MAC survey behind us, we&#8217;d like to encourage<span class=\"x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"\">folks who haven&#8217;t already done so, to move to\u00a0<\/span>spring MAC trainings. What this means is that you will do an additional MAC training in or around May 2019, but then everyone is trained for 12 months. This helps relieve the pressure of getting almost 1400 staff members trained in the fall of each year.\u00a0 Thank you for your support for FAN at each of our schools!<\/p>\n<p>We reset the link regarding<strong> start time info<\/strong>.\u00a0 Here is the <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/BLSstarttimes\">\u00a0link<\/a> again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Calendar:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><strong><span class=\"contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_503_627\" role=\"button\">Debbie Watkins is encouraging all administrators to attend a training on reasonable suspicion planned for Wednesday, Nov 28 from 2:00-5:00.<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<span class=\"contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_629_744\" role=\"button\">Jeff Wright from Bio-Med will lead a session <\/span>in the board room.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><strong>More info from Debbie:<\/strong>\u00a0 This training will incorporate our current district policies around reasonable suspicion testing and the drug free workplace.\u00a0 Please know the intent of this training is not to transfer responsibility of detection, confirmation and processing to the schools or departments.\u00a0 This opportunity is to help train you on the signs to look for so you can be more confident when you come in contact with someone potentially under the influence at work.
