{"id":15,"date":"2018-08-07T21:46:52","date_gmt":"2018-08-07T21:46:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/katie.legace\/?p=15"},"modified":"2018-08-07T21:46:52","modified_gmt":"2018-08-07T21:46:52","slug":"august-7-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/katie.legace\/2018\/08\/07\/august-7-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"August 7, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>Welcome Back, High School Leaders!<\/p>\n<p>Our high school administrator BLOG is intended to provide you with current information while limiting the number of emails you receive.\u00a0 I will update the BLOG\u00a0 weekly \u2013 but\u00a0I will not send out another weekly post until the end of this month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To Do:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Principals, here is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1MRYv7hLE7B3xM1KAvQKH5tRzYEEx5HYs\/view?usp=sharing\">this year\u2019s admin work calendar<\/a>\u00a0for you to fill out and return to me. Please take your best guess of days\u00a0you will not be working\u00a0by blocking them out on the calendar. Please plan to have these returned to me by the start of September. Assistant Principals, you should turn yours in to your principal.<\/li>\n<li>Rather than schedule meetings in August, I\u2019d like to come visit with you at your school for 30 minutes at a time that works for you.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Please let me know when you\u2019d like for me to come to your site in the next few weeks.<\/strong>\u00a0 Again, I\u2019ll try and keep it to 30 minutes of your time and there is nothing you need to prepare for in advance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Informational:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our\u00a0<strong>fall conferences come a week prior to the end of the first quarter<\/strong>.\u00a0 The reason for this is Halloween.\u00a0 We are avoiding making our (and elementary as well) parents choose between coming to school conferences or taking their child trick-or-treating.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Principals<\/strong> will meet the last work day of each month.\u00a0<strong> Assistant Principals and Principals<\/strong> will meet the fourth Monday of each month with a different school hosting each month.\u00a0 Principals, please let me know if you are unable to host on the date you are listed.\u00a0 \u00a0See the <strong>HS Horizontal Team<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1nGoHqTjf3aTrq79JjZct55qUI_Ut9CuXr-lfvLH3DsU\/edit?usp=sharing\">meeting dates<\/a> here.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Reminders:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>None at this time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Calendar:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tomorrow, Wednesday (Aug 8) is our Leadership Academy<\/strong>\u00a0in Sunriver.\u00a0 Please bring a copy of your school\u2019s Design Plan with you. Also, that evening is the annual admin dinner at Mike Tiller&#8217;s home.<\/li>\n<li>As a reminder,\u00a0<strong>Safety Day training will be on Aug. 9<\/strong>\u00a0at Summit HS.\u00a0 Registration begins at <strong>7:30, first speaker at 8:00<\/strong> and concludes at 4:00. The keynote trainer for the day is John Michael-Keyes, who\u2019s team developed the Standard Response Protocols we use in our district. Please plan on attending!<\/li>\n<li>If you have not participated in the\u00a0<strong>Take it Up <\/strong>training\u00a0previously, I encourage you to attend with some others from your staff. It will happen on\u00a0<strong>Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 13, 14 at Pacific Crest MS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>You have received emails inviting you to sign up for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/u\/1\/d\/e\/2PACX-1vR5Bg1fQDd6tNKkYKfKmkMYMRnSAYqEQKgINSrjX7Ly5ZJDzDUgbl45iAI7hPLTZAh7A0MtYp_lICWi\/pubhtml\">Innovative Teaching &amp; Learning conference<\/a>\u00a0happening on\u00a0<strong>Aug. 21 &amp; 22 (Tues &amp; Wed) at PCMS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The second annual\u00a0<strong>Trauma Informed Summit<\/strong>\u00a0will happen on <strong>Thursday, Aug. 23 at SHS.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Principals, plan on being at Summit HS on Monday morning, Aug., 27<\/strong>, in order to\u00a0introduce your new certified staff.\u00a0 Introductions should be brief, warm, and welcoming.<\/li>\n<li>Our district staff welcome back (with keynote speaker,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hDUFgIZzeto\">Chad Hymas<\/a>) will begin at <strong>1:00pm at Bend High on Tuesday, Aug. 28<\/strong>.
