{"id":193,"date":"2018-12-01T16:22:19","date_gmt":"2018-12-01T16:22:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/katie.legace\/?p=193"},"modified":"2018-12-01T16:22:19","modified_gmt":"2018-12-01T16:22:19","slug":"november-30-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/katie.legace\/2018\/12\/01\/november-30-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"November 30, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>TO DO:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>*<strong>Principals:\u00a0 At our meeting this Friday, Dec 7,<\/strong> we will decide on our recommendation in regards to allowing &#8220;<strong>early bird&#8221; classes and morning athletic practices<\/strong> for next year.\u00a0 Please take some time to reflect on this and discuss with your leadership team prior to our meeting and be ready to share your thoughts.\u00a0 Shay will make a final decision, but he is interested in your input.<\/p>\n<p>*As you know, we need to notify our parents each December about the option to <strong>OPT OUT of SBAC.\u00a0 <\/strong>The deadline for sending these out is <strong>next week.<\/strong>\u00a0 <em>You may send these letters in whatever format you typically use to communicate with parents.<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0 For example, if you typically send an electronic communication to parents, please send this Opt-Out letter as an attachment.\u00a0 When you send the Opt-Out form (<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1jbfF3Klzfftm9dQK4VmVABpmAxiFX7yP\/view?usp=sharing\">Spanish<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1JlmmEJxy3GaMI9Jal_DrxK6AJNEvmFkN\/view?usp=sharing\">English<\/a>), please <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1yk10yZxqAYvT9t_jkw9vfTcWU_7dnvvu\/view?usp=sharing\">also include this district created cover letter along with it<\/a>. (The Spanish version of this letter will be provided to you as soon as it is available next week.) <strong>NOTE<\/strong>: this cover letter is currently signed \u201cYour Principal\u201d at the end, so please replace this with your name.<\/p>\n<p>*At our HS Admin meeting Monday, I mentioned the upcoming <strong>Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) Tier 1 training on February 20-22<\/strong>.\u00a0 This is an outstanding training and I highly recommend you take a team.\u00a0 Please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1WnGZ5DPuSYB1Lp_oWBu2SC_bDWpipPyT\/view?usp=sharing\">attached flyer<\/a> for details and note the additional info from Sean.\u00a0 In regards to #1, <strong>I will cover the cost of 2 Gen Ed teachers from SHS, MVHS and BSHS and 1 from LPHS, Marshall, Skyline and REALMS<\/strong> to attend.\u00a0 Include me in your email to Denise (#5) so I can plan accordingly.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\" type=\"1\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoListParagraph\">The training is <strong>free for you and your staff<\/strong>.\u00a0 Buildings cover the cost of subs over the number delineated above that Katie covers.<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoListParagraph\">There has been <u>A Lot<\/u> of interested in this training.\u00a0 In order to accommodate each school, we will <strong>limit each building to 3 slots<\/strong>.\u00a0 Please send Denise Sevigny (<a href=\"mailto:denise.sevigny@bend.k12.or.us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">denise.sevigny@bend.k12.or.us<\/a>) a list of names.\u00a0 Your first three names will be in, and the other names will be waitlisted in the order of their listing.<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoListParagraph\">We would like <strong>at least one building administrator, that has not been Tier 1 trained<\/strong> in the past, \u00a0<strong>to attend from each building.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoListParagraph\">Please send folks that have not been trained in the past three years.<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoListParagraph\">Please submit your names by you and direct any questions to Denise or myself.<\/p>\n<p><strong>*Employee Start Times input:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong> I am re-sending this reminder about <strong>announcing the student Start Times for next year<\/strong> AND the <strong>two question survey on Employee Start Times<\/strong>:\u00a0 Due to the changes to student start times in the coming school year, it is likely that many employees will see changes in their regular work day start and end times.\u00a0 The District Lead Together (DLT) team discussed the issue and is seeking to listen broadly to employee preferences and related suggestions.\u00a0 This team is made up of teachers, classified staff and administrators.\u00a0 This group focuses on issues that impact student learning and employees as a team.\u00a0 <strong>By Dec 7<\/strong>, we are asking you to run a quick <strong>face to face meeting<\/strong> to explain our interest in gathering employee input about work day hours and then <strong>provide a few minutes for them to complete the 2-question survey below<\/strong>.\u00a0 Thank you for your help!<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The student start and end times for the 19-20 school year
