{"id":205,"date":"2018-12-08T01:24:57","date_gmt":"2018-12-08T01:24:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/katie.legace\/?p=205"},"modified":"2018-12-08T01:27:15","modified_gmt":"2018-12-08T01:27:15","slug":"december-7-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/katie.legace\/2018\/12\/08\/december-7-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"December 7, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><strong>TO DO:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Student Shadowing-<\/strong> At our leadership meeting last Monday, Jay presented the opportunity\/challenge of spending a half day <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/10NJcuKUo-wbj7hVXOK9Zl-jH-buPqi6E\/view?usp=sharing\">shadowing a student<\/a> in one of our schools, then\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1m-CyrxVtlsa857NOIY5f2nBlLFVYGOMl\/view?usp=sharing\">interviewing the student<\/a> after the shadow. While this activity has many benefits, what is key for OUR group to know is that Jim and Gary have been <em>trash talking<\/em> this week about how their K-8 teams will easily defeat the HS ADMIN team in a competition!\u00a0 Ha, I say!\u00a0 We have been <em>challenged<\/em> to see who can get the <strong>highest percentage of LEVEL Administrators<\/strong> to complete a shadow and input their reflections onto this <a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/FuiGwT\">Google form.<\/a>\u00a0 I have refrained from &#8220;trash talking&#8221; because actions speak louder than words.\u00a0 In fact, let&#8217;s challenge our GRAD COACHES to participate, as well!\u00a0 Let&#8217;s show them how it&#8217;s done, HS TEAM!\u00a0 Beverages of choice to the winning level!<\/p>\n<p>Check out the the Mini Grants<strong> available to impact Chronic Absenteeism.<\/strong>\u00a0 Here is the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1Q-qcdoqcddyiyn1-8DDkc1uCYeK63Ay8qodLcsu3p1M\/edit\">Grant Application,<\/a> if you are interested.\u00a0 Contact\u00a0 Kimberly Strong at the HDESD and\u00a0 the deadline is January 18, so don&#8217;t delay!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Informational:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At our HS Principals meeting this morning, we spoke of the Administrative Regulation related to <strong>Grades and Attendance<\/strong>.\u00a0 I have attached the reg here for your convenience:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bend.k12.or.us\/application\/files\/5614\/5287\/6127\/IKAD-AR.pdf\">IKAD-AR: Grades and Attendance<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Principals agreed today to implement a practice of<strong> requiring parents to sign off on their child having an open block<\/strong>, which we will <strong>implement next year<\/strong>.\u00a0 Here is the <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1rPgJ4vEcdEswNdy4MOQRocd_0aXFxwOp\/view?usp=sharing\">Document<\/a> we agreed to use as the basis for the district template (thank you, La Pine HS!), with each school adding specifics related to student supervision during open blocks.\u00a0 I am working with Skip and IT to see if there is a way to streamline this process digitally.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Calendar:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Monday, Dec 10 \u2013 <strong>Counselor CTE Day<\/strong> \u2013 please send your counselors to this event!<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday, Dec 11 &#8211; <strong>Informational Meeting on the Co-Teaching PLC &#8211; interested teachers\/administrators should attend,<\/strong> 3:15 @ BSHS Library<\/p>\n<p>Monday, Dec 17 &#8211; <strong>Grad Coach meeting &#8211; <\/strong>1 admin from each school attends! &#8211; 2:00, Ed Center, Room 203<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday, Dec 19 &#8211; <strong>District SIW<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Friday, Dec 21 &#8211; <strong>HS Principal mtg <\/strong>cancelled<\/p>\n<p>Dec 24-Jan 4 &#8211; <strong>Winter Break!<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TO DO: Student Shadowing- At our leadership meeting last Monday, Jay presented the opportunity\/challenge of spending a half day shadowing a student in one of our schools, then\u00a0interviewing the student after the shadow.
