We estimate about 150 students do not take the test each year, so the amount could be substantial.  The new guidelines require us to submit a form for EACH student who does not take the test.  Dave will complete this part of the process for you.  <strong><em>What he needs from you is the NAME OF EVERY STUDENT who doesn&#8217;t take the test.<\/em><\/strong>  The Tigard-Tualatin juniors took the early test and followed a process that their administration said went smoothly.  Each high school entered the student numbers of juniors who did not take the ACT on the test date AND not on the makeup test onto a google doc.  Since we automatically sign up every junior to take the test, the student numbers of any test that is left uncompleted could just be entered into this google doc.  The spreadsheet would be created by Dave and shared with the schools.  If you have other ideas about how to do this efficiently, send them my way early next week, otherwise, we are moving forward with this plan as the ACT test is April 2, right after spring break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mini Observations-<\/strong>&nbsp;\n Just a reminder that spring break is a deadline for formals\/mini \nobservations. 4 mini observations (or 2 formals and 2 minis for \nprobationary) need to be completed and <strong>entered into Talent Ed<\/strong> by spring break. Thank you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Feedback is Requested from you regarding STAS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Student Threat Assessment System Team seeks feedback from administrators, school  counselors, school psychologist, school resource officers, and others  who may have participated in a Level 1 or Level 2 Threat  Assessment over the past 18 months.<strong>&nbsp; Please complete the survey by  April <\/strong>1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/CVDBWNM\">https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/CVDBWNM<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Proper Recording and Destruction of Substances<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drugs and drug paraphernalia seized at school or at school events should be provided to law enforcement following investigation for destruction. Seized drugs and drug paraphernalia that are \u2018lost property\u2019 should also be destroyed through law enforcement. <strong>Drugs and drug paraphernalia should not be stored at school sites.<\/strong> Call your school SRO or the non-emergency line  (541.693.6911) for collection and destruction. <em>Controlled substances could include, but are not limited to:  prescription pills, pills, marijuana, etc. and anything that may contain  marijuana or controlled substance residue.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is illegal for any person under the age of 21 to legally buy or obtain tobacco products, inhalant delivery systems, and tobacco product devices. Enforcement of the law began&nbsp;on  January 1, 2018. Vape pens and products taken as evidence should be turned over to law enforcement or returned to owners 21 or older \u2013 if you are confident it does not contain marijuana oil. Alcohol can be poured out and the container destroyed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Photographs of seized substances should be \ncaptured and stored in the student\u2019s discipline file, if applicable. \nStaff involved with seizure, return and destruction of substances should\n maintain a log that includes items seized, by whom,\n amount, whom released to or whom released for destruction to and on \nwhat dates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As an aside, you should always wear gloves when handling controlled substances.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Inhalant<\/em>&nbsp;means  \u201cnicotine,  a cannabinoid or any other substance that (a) [i]s in a form that  allows the nicotine, cannabinoid or substance to be delivered into a  person\u2019s respiratory system; (b) [i]s inhaled for the purpose of  delivering the nicotine, cannabinoid or other substance  into a person\u2019s respiratory system . . . .\u201d<br> <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonlaws.org\/ors\/433.835\" target=\"_blank\">Or. Be sure to schedule in two administrators per 3 hour session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Some changes are coming to AP.<\/strong>  Here are the documents Dave sent today that you will need to ensure you are prepared: <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1BI2axySWn8Y02vTyJ9GqSCrCg5Zogzvs\/view?usp=sharing\">Principal Letter<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1fOSGAZmynZRdzr3FgaN8MWG_jyMVls2f\/view?usp=sharing\">Poster<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/10kz4l9pTISlJBKWA6ihPM7DN9kVJ_P43\/view?usp=sharing\">Checklist.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here is the <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1wqtl1EKNWRFV_ST1SsMmF500SVSS-XMH\/view?usp=sharing\">updated ABC Calendar<\/a> for the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Here is an important note from Jon in HR that relates to questions about our February snow days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There were four school closure days due to snow:&nbsp; &nbsp;February 25, 26, 27, and 28<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Possible leaves for Certified could include:&nbsp; Sick days, Personal Day, and FMLA.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All leaves that were taken during the snow days \nwill be returned since the days have been rescheduled.&nbsp; Leave sheets \nthat have already been sent to payroll will be modified by the payroll \nstaff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FMLA- employees currently on FMLA will have an \nopportunity to extend the leave up to four days.&nbsp; HR has already \ncontacted all employees that are currently on FMLA.&nbsp; If the employee \nwants to extend, then a substitute might be needed. &nbsp;HR\n has communicated this with office managers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This will hopefully answer questions for certified staff.&nbsp; Certified staff with questions are welcome to contact HR.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These rules will not necessarily apply to classified.&nbsp; All classified staff with leave questions need to contact HR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> <strong>Reminder:&nbsp;<\/strong> The Education Foundation&#8217;s 2019-2020&nbsp;<strong>Classroom&nbsp;Grant<\/strong> program that supports STEM, art, music &amp; wellness requests from K-12 educators is <strong>now OPEN <\/strong>and will close on <strong>Friday, March 22, 2019<\/strong>. Teachers may submit only (1) grant request,  but schools may submit several requests, with priority ranking by the school principal.&nbsp; Technology requests must be prior approved by BLS Technology.&nbsp; Our Guidelines and the online Application are  attached.
