Kudos to Cyndi, our community organizer for the event, who has worked tirelessly to create an outstanding day for our sophomores at <strong>zero cost to them<\/strong>.  Consider how your school\/students can<strong> thank Cyndi for her time<\/strong> in a meaningful way! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At our April 1 Leadership meeting, Shay talked about the May 8 certified staff walk out being promoted by our BEA\/OEA.  He was clear that we will hold school on that day.  Shay asked that <strong>each level talk about and have a plan for how that day may look if this occurs<\/strong>.  We will discuss this topic at our April 22 meeting at Brinson Campus.  In preparation, please bring your best thinking about the level of participation you expect to see from your certified staff AND be ready to share strategies your team has discussed related to how we might supervise students if numerous teachers walk out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>INSPIRE<\/strong> is the name selected for our HS Behavior Reset Program we started after spring break in the OLD Tamarack building.  This is a temporary location until the construction is completed on the Marshall Campus, at which time it will be located at the Heart of Oregon Module.  Robert Adams is currently the teacher running the program until the end of the year.  The curriculum is online and Laura Clark is working with Robert in ensure students get the access they need to progress with their credits. <strong> I appreciate working with Robert and Laura, in addition to Hayley, Garra with Nutrition Services, Kim and Dan at the Bus Garage and Josh Marks<\/strong> to get the program started!  It will provide one more option for our students to be successful!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Information:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Austin is available to visit your site and meet with your team to support you with any data needs you may have this spring.\u00a0 He understands it is a busy time of year, but wants you to know he is available to schedule a visit only if you feel it would be helpful.\u00a0 Possible topics for discussion might include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>DART specific questions<\/li><li>Where\/how to get data that might help in forecasting for next fall<\/li><li>Ideas for new upstream measures in the school design plan<\/li><li>Strategies for effective data use throughout the school year<\/li><li>Any other data needs<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Nancy Chandler Visiting Scholar Program at COCC Foundation is hosting Professor Robert Putnam for a keynote, \u201cOur Kids: The American  Dream in Crisis,\u201d on May 13.\u00a0 Putnam\u2019s nationwide research on this topic included a case study of the opportunity gap in Bend. Here is a link for more information on Putnam and the keynote and to reserve tickets:\u00a0  www.cocc\/edu\/foundation\/vsp. The morning after Putnam\u2019s keynote, local educators, non-profits and thought leaders are invited to gather and learn from Professor Putnam about the broader national implications of the growing opportunity gap and to hear about communities and programs that demonstrate systemic change. This work session will occur May 14, 8:30 \u2013 10:30 a.m.The work session is free, but space is limited. <em>If you would like to attend, please contact Lora Nordquist directly to make sure spots are still available.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the February Leadership meeting, Lora asked each building administrative team to work with their leadership team and \u201cwalk\u201d <strong>one major site decision through an equity lens<\/strong> as a part of the process.  Lora has previously shared some questions for you to consider when you do this \u201cwalk.&#8221;  Here are <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1tHccAdKHMpucw98DpJQl5BQStQUx8BhB\/view?usp=sharing\">some examples of additional questions<\/a> that staff a the Ashland School District use as a way to evaluate their decisions through an equity lens.
