Teachers may attend the Innovative Teaching and Learning Conference.\u00a0 August 24<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0has several sections that focus on equitable grading.\u00a0 On August 30<sup>th<\/sup>, the first day of the contract, teachers may attend a morning training on equitable grading at their home site (details to come at the level retreat) and a\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1iFwooOWnp451I4YhSjg6ya4XEk8kA6P68aQOKS830ho\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\">Canvas training session<\/a>\u00a0in the afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teachers may choose to attend\u00a0<em>both<\/em>\u00a0the conference\u00a0<em>and<\/em>\u00a0the training on the 30<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 This would satisfy the district directed PD\u00a0<strong>and<\/strong>\u00a0the teacher directed PD (aka Day 190.) <strong>This is the best option from a consistent messaging perspective.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We understand that this is messy this year to have options for teachers having these options. We began the process of securing keynotes and sessions for the ITLC prior to the decision to hold the training on the 30<sup>th<\/sup>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One other thing that may make the Canvas training difficult for teachers is if schools do not have master schedules set and synergy is not set up. New teachers may not have access to their Canvas shells if the hiring process has not been fully completed.\u00a0 Please communicate this potential wrinkle if it is likely.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>From Rachel Mavis:<\/strong>  If you are not familiar with our&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/gapps.bend.k12.or.us\/officestaff\/home?authuser=0\" target=\"_blank\">Office Staff webpage<\/a>, please review and bookmark. <strong>This is a great Go To for information we send out to your office staff.<\/strong> We have a page a position with the latest and greatest communication. We are in the process of updating each page with training information that has been posted in Performance Matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All of our NEW staff trainings and our Back-To -School Meetings are scheduled in Performance Matters for August. They are structured so that the Monday staff start their contract year, we have a Synergy Navigation class scheduled at 8:00 am.&nbsp; The days following that same week are the Synergy classes required for their job duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Training is required before they are granted access to the job specific areas in Synergy. Accuracy of state reporting, and essential student information is depended on the data input your staff is tasked with.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>From Rachel Mavis regarding New Registrars: <\/strong>This year, we have a lot of new staff such as 7 NEW Registrars. Trainings require many hrs. For example, new registrars need at least 5 hrs of basics to start. <strong>It is imperative that your new staff attend the sessions we have scheduled. O<\/strong>ur district has grown quite a bit, and with the demands of August, we will not be able to come out to sites to train one on one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Back to School Workshops\/Meetings are also scheduled. <strong>These are VERY important for your office staff to come together and learn about new features and new processes.<\/strong> These meetings are integral to each group as they share ideas, learn from each other and make connections with others in the district. \u00a0Your office staff have unique positions in your buildings. Thanks to our team\u2019s great recruitment efforts and our transportation department\u2019s work, we were able to hire more than <strong>20 new bus drivers<\/strong>. This enables us to transition back to two start times, one for middle and high schools and one for elementary schools.\u00a0  Start and end times for 2022-23:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Elementary:&nbsp; 7:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Middle school: 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Three Rivers School: 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>High school: 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.  (Drop at 8:15-8:30)<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>High School Choice Schools&nbsp; 9:00-3:20&nbsp; (Drop at 8:50)<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>HS Staff work day is 8:00-4:00&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Schools will continue to release 90 minutes early on Wednesdays for professional development.\u00a0 <strong>SIW professional development time will run 2:30-4:00.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The expectation is that <strong>on-staff coaches participate in the full 90 minutes of SIW time and begin practices after 4:00.<\/strong>  If they have walk on assistants who are able to begin practices prior to 4:00, that is approved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This news will be shared as part of back to school messaging.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Schedules for teachers shared between schools: <\/strong> because the middle and high school start and end times now align, building leaders across levels will need to <strong>collaborate to reconfigure the schedules <\/strong>for teachers who work at both levels.  This most commonly impacts our music teachers.  <strong>Remember to follow these guidelines to ensure schedules meet the contract language:  <\/strong>20 min for travel each day, duty free lunch each day, prep time equivalent to a teaching period each day.
